Dearest New York, It's been too long since I have seen you. True, saw you from a distance a few times while was flying elsewhere, but time and circumstances wouldn't allow even a small detour. I hope you understand. It certainly isn't because I don't love you, and miss you terribly. It's this stupid ticketing. Yes, I admit to some indescrepencies; it's true I've had a few flings. Paris, Rome, Lyon, Venice, yes, they're lovely, but mind you, you're more beautiful than them all. And Palermo, yes. I admit to my lust, I am sorry. I am only human. Please forgive me. How I long to be a nameless person on your streets again. To disappear into a random Jewish deli for matzaball soup like I did that time it was raining cats and dogs. No ... read more

Hi Everyone, I am sitting in NYC at Skaggs' new (very cool) office in TriBeCa. Jonina has let me borrow one of their computers and I am taking this opportunity to do my first entry. Very exciting! I arrived in NYC two days ago, spent time with my great friend Geraldine and met her beautiful 12-days old daughter, Talulah. Love NYC. What a place! What energy! Went out and hung out in Soho last night and met some interesting people who were shooting a commercial in the area. I ran several errands today, realized once again that I packed too much and will have to leave a few prized possessions (no, not the hair dryer!) behind me at the post office. The weather turned cold suddenly and it's time to get out before the snow catches ... read more

I took the china town bus from Boston to New York and the driver was on a mission, he was overtaking everything and it only took 3 and a half hours in the end, some people i spoke to at the New York hostel said the same journey had taken them an hour more. Took bloody ages to get to the hostel, i knew it was north of china town but it was only after i bought a map and saw i needed to trek another 103 blocks with the big ass backpack that i reluctantly parted with some cash and got a yellow cab, so i arrived tired, sweaty and not in the best mood ever. After i'd washed i felt better, met a German guy within an hour of arriving, and also some guy ... read more

New York City Baby! It always feels good to be in New York City. It's lively, colorful, full of surprises. We visited the staple places such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square among other things. We also made our way to ground zero. Not much happening there as far as rebuilding or doing anything with the site. It is a known fact that there are many internal battles between investors and the families of the people who died. However, being there and thinking about what went on during that time sends shivers through your body. May such a thing never happen to anyone on this planet. We went to see a Broadway show called "The Producers". It was an excellent show with truly awesome decors and choreography. The show was followed by an excellent ... read more

So since I'm not setting off on my trip to the land down under for another couple of months, I figure I will tell you about the lovely Orange County, NY. Yes, the O.C. The original O.C. since it existed long before the one in California. Although I wasn't born here, I did grow up in Goshen, NY. It's a small town. I like to joke that we don't even have a grocery store. We don't actually have one, but it's not actually that small of a town. I believe the village population is approaching 6,000; the town and village combined is probably around 12,000. Of course if you're from a big city, you consider Goshen tiny...but I'm sure residents of smaller towns further upstate would think Goshen is large. Or even the next town over...Florida, ... read more

The cats definitely kept me warm all through the night. Dani said that it was one of the coldest nights lately but I didn’t feel such coldness. All I felt was the seediness of way too many Otter Creeks as well as combined beers from karaoke. I did all my packing last night and so did Dani so it wasn’t too long after we woke up that we began on our way at 10am. It was a perfect Saturday morning in the season of Fall, to be out. A convoy of RVs had the same idea and we were stuck behind them for about 30 miles as they cruised down the roads, having a look at all the leaves changing on all the trees by the side of the road. In all our ranting and ... read more

Unser letzter Tag bricht an...

After an eight hour flight (which wasn’t very good) we arrived into NY tired but excited. You can see the famous skyline from the airport. We got the air train and subway into New York, which went really smoothly and a local guy even helped us get on the right train. Got to our hotel which is where the problems started. To put it frankly it was a dump so we were gutted. I didn’t really enjoy NY that much although to be fair I think a lot of that was the hotel. There were some good things. We went up the Empire State Building in the evening which was amazing, you can see the whole city lit up in lights. Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square and even the Statue of Liberty (just - it is quite ... read more
