Today we moved to Munising Tourist Park Campground. On the way we stopped off at Lakenenland Sculpture Park. The park contained over 80 iron sculptures. Some of the sculptures were whimsical while others showed the artist political views. Daisy really seemed to enjoy this stop she said it had a nice junk yard, liberal movement vibe. This campground is on Lake Superior as well, but the sites were full due to it being the weekend. We can see the water from a distance and unfortunately, we have a good amount of road noise but should have a nice sunset tonight from the campground. After setting up we headed out to Munising Falls, it appeared dehydrated, but the surrounding sandstone cliff was gorgeous. On our drive to Miners Beach, we took a detour to Miners Falls. I ... read more

It was a cold and windy day. We didn't push too hard today because I have been feeling overwhelmed with work and travel balance. We skipped some waterfalls and the sculpture park, we opted to go to Presque Isle. We were fortunate enough to see a deer in the early afternoon. We checked out the beach, the small breakwater light, and Black Rocks. Black rocks was amazing the water was bright blue in some areas and a vibrant green in others. The color of the rocks and cliffs adds a dramatic landscape to the shoreline of Black Rocks. We sat here for time taking in the beauty. We then headed back to the trailer. After resting up we returned to Presque Isle to view the sunset. It's moments like that when I can feel the presence ... read more

This morning the camp host came to visit us, he brought Nate a few Yooperlite rocks, Nate vowed not to take credit for them. The host was so funny and kind, he was like you can go ahead and take credit. Truly this was so thoughtful and nice of this host and I know Nate really appreciated being able to take a few Yooperlite rocks home. We drove to Marquette today and are staying at Marquette Tourist Park. The campground is on located on Dead River. We opted to stay off the river so that we could have full hookups which has been rare during this trip unlike in Florida. It's been over 2 weeks since we've had a site with water hookup far less sewer. I'm looking forward to the long shower tonight and not ... read more

Daisy needed a day to herself so after finishing up my work Nate and I went to a few local waterfalls. The most impressive waterfall was Canyon Falls just a short 15 minute drive from our campsite. We enjoyed the hike along the cascades and past the fall along the gorge edge. The water appeared to only be a couple inches deep at points but moved with such power it would sweep you off your feet if you attempted to cross. After this we went to Powerhouse Falls, no hiking required. It was located beside the old powerhouse; it was small but beautiful. The last fall we visited today was Middle Falls right up from the town park almost hidden if not seeing the sign for we had to hike alongside the power station which was ... read more

Guess what? NO WATERFALLS TODAY!! Yep, I'm taking over the tour and blog today. Lol. We slept in, well at least I did, Tina got some work done while I microwaved some lunch yum. Began our adventure traveling along the Keweenaw Bay taking in the great views of the water and rocky shoreline. Continuing into the town of Hancock where our first experience into anything mining began at Quincy Mine. Sneaking into the last tour of the day as it is still early in the season. We also lucked out today because they were testing out new equipment on the tour, flashlights, this was only the second tour attempted since the first didn't go so well. A brief gathering to watch a video and allowing everyone to use the restroom before starting the over 2-hour tour. ... read more

We took a short drive to our next campsite, L'Anse Township Park. Upon arriving the hosts came to assist us in finding a campsite. They were so welcoming and provided lots of great information on the area. The campground is located on a hill above Keweenaw Bay off Lake Superior. At arrival the campground was showing 66°, the host explained that down the hill in town the temperature is typically 20° warmer. We planned to go hiking today but could not bear to leave the view. It was so relaxing sitting on the swing, listening to the birds, and feeling the cool breeze on our skin. After a while we needed some activity so Nate, the doggies, and I went down to the beach below our campground. Nate searched for rocks while the doggies and I ... read more

Yesterday was another rainy day. I was kind of relieved because I was able to catch up on my work. We watched a few more episodes of That ‘70s Show, Nate made lunch, and Daisy made dinner. It is nice when everyone pitches in. Nate and Daisy are already tired of hiking and viewing waterfalls. Somehow, I talked them into viewing a few more along the Black River Forest Scenic Byway. The first fall we viewed was Gorge Falls, just a brief walk from the parking lot. This waterfall was located within a deep and narrow gorge. The overlook supplied a full view of the falls. You could feel the mist of the falls as you stand in awe of its beauty. Then we walked over to Potawatomi Falls. The overlook was much closer which allowed ... read more

We drove into Michigan today and set up camp in Lake Gogebic State Park, MI. The roads up north tend to be a lot bumpier making it hard to work on the computer with detailed information, but I have been pushing on. I am so grateful to be able to continue to work on the road, but it does add stress to the trip. Sometimes I wish we were moving slower staying at each place longer, but there is so much to see in so little time. We started out with 1-2 nights at each place and are now staying 3 nights. That is in part due to the rain that comes through the area and seems to set in for the entire day making us not be able to site see. The campground we left ... read more

I did not plan much for the last day and I should have. Our flight was not until 4:15, but I didn’t’ really know what else to do. We slept in a bit, then checked out and stored our luggage. The only real thing on the schedule was breakfast at Hudson Café, a Detroit breakfast institution. It was close so we walked. The weather has been just fantastic, cool in the mornings, low humidity, and a nice breeze most of the day. The only rain was the thunderstorm our first night here. We had the foresight to make a reservation, without one the wait was over an hour long. The place is small, but they pack them in. No Covid distancing here. We got a table in the back by the kitchen, which was fun because ... read more

Another early start to the day, up at 6:30 to do some work and have a staff meeting via Teams. No breakfast this morning as we were still pretty full from the beef from last night. Coffee and a strong one was in order. The coffee bar downstairs, while they use Starbucks, still make a good strong latte. The baristas are also very friendly. Today’s itinerary consists of 2 museums’, the Ford Piquette Plant and the Detroit Historical Museum. If the Qline would have been running it would take us to both places, but the number 4 bus does as well. The bus system here is horrible, no social distancing (but they require masks) and they just do not keep to any kind of real schedule. We have waited up to 20 to 30 minutes for ... read more
