We drove into Michigan today and set up camp in Lake Gogebic State Park, MI. The roads up north tend to be a lot bumpier making it hard to work on the computer with detailed information, but I have been pushing on. I am so grateful to be able to continue to work on the road, but it does add stress to the trip. Sometimes I wish we were moving slower staying at each place longer, but there is so much to see in so little time. We started out with 1-2 nights at each place and are now staying 3 nights. That is in part due to the rain that comes through the area and seems to set in for the entire day making us not be able to site see. The campground we left was wet and muddy from the rain but does not even compare to the muddiness at the new campground. Letting the dogs out tonight will be a challenge so that they do not bring muddy paws into my clean bed.
I am still amazed at how long the daylight is here. Sunrise is around 5:10 am and sunset is around 8:40 pm. That gives
us a nice long day to site see. After setting up and eating lunch we headed straight out because we lost an hour today, we are back into the eastern time zone again. Our first stop was Agate Falls. It was a very short easy walk to the overlook, but the overlook was not worth even going to. We decided to climb down to the bottom of the fall to get a real look at Agate Falls. The climb down was very scary to me, a lot of the climb was on a narrow side of the decline which made me afraid that one of us would lose our footing and fall to our death or at least to a lot of broken bones. We were as careful as we could and arrived down to the bottom of the fall. It was magnificent, wide, full, powerful, and so beautiful. We couldn’t stay long because it was already after 6:30 pm and we still wanted to visit one more fall.
We drove over to Bond Falls. This was the most AMAZING waterfall I have ever been to. The width was so large you could not even capture it in a
photo. If that was not enough, you could hike the entire way around the waterfall. Currently Bond Falls was so full it was spilling into the surrounding areas and down the steps. One of the overlooks allowed you to stand in a location where the waterfall was splashing against you allowing you to witness the power of the fall. If you continue to hike up the stairs, you will find cascading waterfalls to view down the path. The pictures do not do a waterfall like this justice, all I can say is if you are ever in the area go to Bond Falls, it is stunning. This is a waterfall that you stand and look at and think how special you are to be there, how amazing God is in his creations, and that will stick in your mind for some time.
