When I got up this morning (Sunday) I was really feeling badly... slight fever and can't breathe at all out of my nose. I decided I wanted to go home! I missed my family and I didn't think that much of Cuzco. I made a bunch of phone calls to arrange my flight back to Lima and then to arrange my flight back to the states. I made it to the Cuzco airport at 1:30 PM and hung around until my 3:15 PM flight to Lima. I landed in Lima at 4:30 PM and I had a ton of time to kill since my flight to Atlanta wasn't until 12:20 AM!! My flight to Atlanta took off on time and landed in Atlanta at 8:30 AM. I then had a 10:30 AM flight from Atlanta to ... read more

Well, I must sincerely apologize for not posting anything recently... but let me tell you, I've been having the time of my life! I've gotten all over the area, seen some wonderful sights and met some fantastic friends! I should have a whole bunch of posts now, and to start things off, I wanted to share my first batch of pictures from my visit to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Enjoy!... read more

So I'm pretty much ready to go. I'll admit it, I'm going ever so slightly bananas over my desire to just be on my way. I'm packed, most everything is taken care of (except my gift for my host family.... that's a toughie, i'll have to consult more knowledgeable types about such things), and rob and lydia started school again. The house is pretty quiet during the day, but the last two nights have been really fun. Dad and I went out for a farewell steak, then Ari Matt and I went for a delicious tapas dinner and both times I died from the deliciousness. The problem being that now I want closure on this whole "departure" thing. But hey, two days, I can handle it! I'll just spend the time finding innovative ways to torture ... read more

Well, unfortunately, the weather this past weekend was somewhat dreary, so I didn't get a chance to go out and have any new adventures. However, the delay gave me a chance to clean out my camera's memory and I found 13 pictures from my trip to the Inner Harbor that I forgot to post. So let's re-live that adventure and hope the weather is fantastic this weekend! (Forecast says partly sunny and temps in the 80's!) ... read more

Well, I had heard some rumors that the office was trying to have a get-together at a Bowie Baysox game and that I was welcome to come along. I thought that was a fantastic idea--there was only one problem: No one ever let me know when the game was. Since I had already planned to go shopping Saturday, I crossed my hooves and hoped that Sunday was the right day. Alas, I was wrong--but that didn't stop me from having a great time! Just check out these 18 pictures--my biggest post yet!... read more

Well, I've been having so much fun on vacation that I admit I've been remiss in updating the blog. But after you see these eleven pictures, how can you blame me? I've been playing with my new toys and wearing my new clothes out all over the place! I'm sure glad I was able to cash in some of that comp time for overtime--now I've got plenty of spending money! What should I spend it on next? ... read more

Of course, I can’t totally blow off my responsibilities while I’m on vacation. I will have to come back to work eventually, and really don’t want to work door security for the rest of my career, so I’m studying up to join my friends in the RC. Of course they’ve got very high standards, so I’m trying to cram my head full of all the grammar and editing information I can find. In my studies, I came across this tidbit of grammar information that I’d love to share: THOUGH, ALTHOUGH AND EVEN THOUGH Though, although and even though are used to show a contrast between two clauses: Our new neighbors are quite nice (this is good) though their two dogs bark all day long. (this isn't good) We can use though or although with no difference ... read more

This morning we are headed to Washington DC. We spent yesterday at Gettysburg and getting to Frederick where we met with friends, Ron and Culleen Tobin. At Gettysburg we took a tour with a personal guide, sharing expenses with a young couple from UK and letting the guide drive our car. He was an excellent guide and very descriptive and keen. The Battlefield Tour covers about 20 or 30 miles I think and took us over the trails and ridges where all the battles were fought. On every knoll or valley there is some monument, large or small in memory of the over 50,000 deaths in those three days of fighting between Confederate and Union forces with the Union eventually winning and turning the tide of the civile war even though it would rage for 22 ... read more
