Visiting a Cementary may sound wierd, especially if you don't have anyone buried there to visit. It can't be that wierd if there are tours for cementaries like in New Orleans. So I must not be that wierd for going to visit Crown Hill Cementary during my day off. I saw an article in the local paper about it being a place people take their visitors from out of town when they arrive because of its beauty and history facts. The directions I took by my gps led me to to the entrace with the funeral home. A bit embarrissing as a wake was going on and I was in a T-shirt, people glaced in my car with a bit of curiosity as I drove passed to get to the point of the road that leds ... read more

City Market is a pretty cool lil trip near by circle city. It definitly provides you with a variety of lunch choices and that was the main reason I went...FOOD!! Yep, no surprise if you read any previous blogs by me, I love to try new food everywhere I go. I am being surprised by Indy everyday on the food side. I'm surprised it hasn't been talked about in many travel forums that Indy has a vast pool of really good eats to sample. However I have discovered the Hoosiers may be hiding their gems on purpose. Thats just my opinion anyway. The City Market is small compared to other city markets but you still get to meet Hoosier local specialties which is the point of a city market. There are two levels, the tables to ... read more

Looking for somethimg to do over the weekend I came across an advertisement for Carnival Day for the family at the History Center Downtown. Upon research I discovered that this history museum has a neat approach to teach about history by taking you back in time in living scenes. To make it more inticing to visit this particular day was that it was FREE!! However tickets to play carnival games and buy snacks would cost you .50 per ticket. So off we we went my daughter and I on Saturday morning to expierence something else in this city. Parking was easy as the new street meters accepted debit cards to pay for hourly parking at $1.45. We realized the History center was set off the side off the canal making it a nice scene to relax ... read more

Its probably no big surprise to my friends that I LOVE to try new foods. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to research what places in that area are considered a must or has some kind of following by the locals. Urbanspoon has become my favorite app for this purpose. In Indianapolis it gets no bigger than The Shapiros Deli, as a matter of fact their Rueben sandwhich was voted the #1 iconic sandwhich for Indy during the superbowl. My husbands family has been visiting this place for years. Its a Koscher deli which means things are going to be really fresh. We went to Shapiros for our annivesary because we were tight on money from our move to this city and I wanted to see why it's Rueben voted #1. When ... read more

Being in Indianapolis since November and needing a much deserved nite of fun, my husband took me out to enjoy the well known strip called Massachusettes Ave. Here is where you will find a mixture of places to have a great dinner, grab a drink and have some entertainment. This street has a collection of cute boutiques that range from sweets to fabric stores and antiques. Places on this street you may have heard of is the Flying Cupcake, YATS (Creole food), Tini an upcoming Martini bar, The Chatterbox, The Mesh and many others. They are all next door to each other. All you need to do is park and get there before closing time for some of the places. We met our party at 8:00pm on a Saturday and the Flying Cupcake was closed much ... read more

There has been a gap in my travel blogging due to a move from San Antonio, TX to Indianapolis IN. I'm going to have to back date a few blogs to share my expierences in this new area of the US. I'm excited to get started only because after extensive research there just isn't enough information to make this City or state as inticing as other well known Cities. I know as the case with traveling theres always something to see or expierence in every place and hopefully I can find and share a bit with you on my blog entries. That being said my first expierence in the Circle City was Super Bowl XLVI and I believe it was a devine sign as I'm a New Yorker and it was Giants VS the Patriots! We ... read more

Have you been wondering where the Wanderlust Crew has been the past few days? We’ve been doing some heavy travelling. We crossed the rest of Utah and enjoyed the majestic views. We were thrilled to see the ski hills in Colorado especially Vale and discovered Copper Mountain, for a future ski trip. Anyone want to join us? Joe, Da and Deb were tempted to stop and ski a few runs, but decided to wait until next time. The snow capped mountains were awesome as we had just missed a snow storm. We were happy that we didn’t have to have chains on our tires...according to law, you can’t drive the roads in the winter weather without them. We drove through a tunnel, approximately 1.6 miles, through a mountain as we drove to Denver. We stayed in ... read more

This was my first ARBA convention! It seems surreal that I was able to go to Indianapolis. It was an amazing, overwhelming, whirlwind trip. My mom went with me and she had to be back at work on Tuesday, so we were only able to go to the convention on Saturday and Sunday. Indianapolis was really beautiful. The fairgrounds were well kept and full of rich history. I didn't know what to expect, but the people of Indiana were incredible. In Texas, we pride ourselves on being hospitable. Indiananians(sp?), or Hoosiers, were like the folks back home - maybe even friendlier. I was talking with a woman at the grocery store about how high the prices were and she gave me her store card, not just to use, but to have for my trip. She was ... read more
