12/1/2006 11:35 PM We went directly to the club in Phoenix, or at least that was our intention. We GPS’ed the club location but ended up in a strip mall parking lot next to a Michaels store and a nail salon. Martin called the promoter and asked directions. It turned out that it was about a mile south of where we were. As soon as we pulled in we started to unload the bus. Somehow we got the second spot of the evening with a local band between us and Attrition. As we waited for a sound check I decided to go to the Middle Eastern restaurant next door for a cup of coffee which someone who was waiting to see the third band, bought for me. The restaurant was full of hookahs and filled with ... read more

Went to see my favorite hockey team on their only trip out to play Phoenix this season. Unbelievable...I buy my ticket, throw on my Devils gear, and when I get there I find out my seat is right in the middle of the season ticket holders. Hooray....hostile territory. I was up for it....I mean, come on, Phoenix blows ass....and then I sat and watched my team get their asses handed to them. Good thing I enjoy a little misery every once in a while.... read more

Hi All, At last we are in our new home. All our stuff arrived in one piece last Friday and it has been good to finish setting up the apartment. Such a great feeling to finally have a home after living out of a suitcase for 4 months (not complaining too much as we did have the holiday of a lifetime!) It has all fitted in really well, and even though the apartment is small it's perfect for us. For those of you who don't know it's a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor with a patio off the front door. It's open plan with a kitchen, dining and living area. The bedroom has a walk-in closet (love it!) and it's a lot bigger than our bedroom back in Bradley Stoke (our king bed looks ... read more

I gave a lift to a Costa Rican chap (Ignacio) that was in the dorm. Wer drove from Flagstaff and stopped frequently in Oak Creek Canyon to take loads of photos of the beautiful scenery. The drive was really scenic with very red rocks and formations all around. At the end of the valley was the town of Sedona. Sedona thinks of itself as some sort of hippy healing place. Ignacio almost bought a CD of tribal drumming rubbish until he saw the price. There were lots of spiritual shops selling all sorts of tat. No doubt the the town is in a great setting with red cliffs surrounding the town. We carried on to Phoenix after a cheap bbq lunch and ice cream. We arrived at the hostel (which is in quite a poor neighbourhood ... read more

Hello! I'm actualy back dating this Blog to tell you about when I went to America.. I've actually been back about a month.. but its all still fresh in my memory so!! I went to America for a month in October and November to see my Uncle, Aunty and their four Children. The older two children, Maia and Lance, are homeschooled by Sam, my aunty. Fiona (Nicknamed Rainbow) is the only one of the children who goes to school, and Chari is only five, so doesn't go to school but does a little bit of homeschooled work. As the kids are all at school, or rather being schoolled, and my Uncle Richard works in Colorado, Nevarda, Utah and Arizona so we spent the majority of my time there at home living life as they usually do.. ... read more

I have uploaded a small fraction of the pictures from my trip. They cover the drive from Phoenix to Vegas and into Zion NP. All of the Zion photos did not upload, but this set will take you on hikes to Hidden Canyon as well as Angel's Landing. You can view them here. If you have the time and bandwidth, I recommend watching them as a Slide Show. More to come...... read more

Phoenix - again? Hey ya'll!!! After a great delay here comes the begining of Part 2 of Nick and Mel's most excellent adventure! A big hello to all our Phoenix friends who are joining the blog - we miss you guys! From Tucson we headed back to Phoenix and the scorching summer heat! When we cruised in the heat was oppressive and we found most of the RV parks were 55+ and didnt want young hell-raisers like us!! Needless to say we were feeling a little dehydrated and rather despondent when we rolled into Orangewood Shadows RV Park (another 55+ park). Nick asked if we could possibly set up camp for a couple of days, Nancy at reception was suitably charmed by him and let us stay - just for a couple of nights though. The ... read more

Just a quick "Shari" update for you all. After nearly 20 hours of continuous travel she arrived at her starting point in central Virginia. Tonight (thursday) she is spending her first (of many) nights somewhere along the trail. I expect an update from her when she arrives at the first town along the way...about 70 miles. I'll share that with you as soon as I hear from her. In the meantime feel free to write any messages for her here on the blog. She'll be thrilled to hear from every one of you. Thanks for your support, Mike... read more
