7 months, 5 continents, 3 credit cards, 2 backpacks, 1 goal. Do as the locals do and bring it all home with me. Ok so I'm not planning on eating melon glazed larvae or wiping my arse with my hand but for all intents and purposes, this trip will focus primarily on the foreign cultures we visit. It has become apparent to me that after graduating college and entering the so called "real world," I need to step out of the bubble I call my daily life and and a big giant leap into the literal REAL WORLD. Initially I made a simple list of goals, things I wanted to accomplish in order to make this trip a success. As it turns out, the extreme adventure list of Bungy Jumping, Sky Diving and Whitewater Rafting will ... read more

This morning we drove up to Muley Point in Utah before returning to Arizona to visit the site where Forrest Gump stops running. We stopped just outside Flagstaff in order to buy Hallowe'en costumes and visited another ancient site (the misnamed "Montezuma's Castle") of the Sinagua people. That night we set up camp at a real cowboy camp run by the real cowboys Rusty and Betty (and I mean REAL). As it was Hallowe'en we all dressed up, had a big party night and Tim entertained everyone on Rusty's guitar until the small hours of the morning. The next morning we were up early (to the cacophony of banging cowbells) in order to ride horses across a two-hour stretch of the Arizona desert.... read more

Wow...September 24th was a doozy of a day. We visited the Phoenix Zoo and wanted to get an early start because the temperatures were supposed to top 100 degrees. Well, the weather forecast was right....it was over 100 degrees with a bright, hot unrelenting sun today. Absolutely NO breeze whatsoever. We arrived at the zoo shortly after it opened at 9:00am and it was already in the high 80's low 90's. The zoo was nice....there is an open African Savannah where giraffes, oxen, ostriches, etc roamed around together. The zoo has nice, wide paths and they allow people to bring their bikes. So, families were riding together all over the zoo. Kim and I wandered around the zoo, snapping pictures and just thoroughly enjoying the day. After adding to our now bright pink, red sunburns.....we decided to ... read more

Niets was minder waar. :-) Het betrof een woestijngebied waar de waarschuwingsborden voor schorpioenen niet van de lucht waren. Ook was het er ERG warm :-). Graadje of 45 ofzo. PFfffffffffffffff.... ... read more

as some of you may know. pheonix arizona has been a real investor hot spot for some time now. I've been out to surprise, arizona a number of times for investment related issues. i always find some time to go out and explore though. it was during this time that i began to hate big business. I began to dislike how shopping centers are so pre-packaged now. There is hardly anything new and different when you find yourself in a new place. head to a shopping center. you'll find: petco, home depot, wall mart, target, subway, Mcdonalds. head to a mall. gap, radio shack, macys, sharper image, etc etc etc.. Anywho, pheonix is a nice place to live. and to a californian its some bargain to purchase a home. Its just missing the ocean and that ... read more

I decided at 10:30am on Feb 13th to head to Arizona with most speed - I was going to chat with her over email at lunchtime, but found out that I had to catch the taxi at 11. I got on the taxi to the port at 11, the ferry to the mainland at 12:30, where I transferred to an overnight bus to Bangkok at 6pm which got me to Khao San road at 4:30am, and the airport at 5am where I managed to get onto the first United flight of the day at 7am to LA via Tokyo. I arrived in LA at about 10am the same day because of the international dateline and changed my ticket to go to Phoenix and Kristen met me there at about 3pm - just in time for Valentines ... read more

For Spring Break my sophomore year some friends and I went to went to Arizona for spring break. We got a great deal at a real nice hotel on a golf course. We went to spring training baseball games almost every day, went to an NHL game, climbed camel back mountain, and of course went out on the town (it was spring break after all)! Jordan and I left from Eau Claire on a Thursday after class and we drove the rest of Thursday, all day Friday and most of Saturday. It was the first time that I had ever done a real long road trip like that. On the way out there we went through Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. On the way back we wanted to see the Grand Canyon so we went up ... read more
