Mexico was one of the best vacations ive ever had! It was two weeks of pure relaxation and sun. Karolina and I would wake up around 700am, grab a starbucks cold frap from the store and lay out on the pool chairs and take a little nap. Every now and then wed take a dip in the pool or go for a stroll on the beach, but other then that we didnt move much haha. We could even have our food and drinks delievered to our beach chair!! We got SO nicely tanned its insane!! We didnt want to leave!! Some of the highlights of the trip would be: - Playing cards at night with Karolina while we ate our noodles from Walmart - Taking dance lessons and going for bikerides with "the boys" - Watching ... read more

I arrived in Merida in the wee hours of the morning and was lucky enough to find some decent accommodation immediately. The owner of the hostel was actually hanging out at the bus station at 6am with free rides, so it was an easy decision. I had a moment of doubt when I saw my pack being roped onto the roof of a gas guzzling 1970's jalopy, but after a coughing start we finally made it. I then opted for a bit of a snooze before walking through the central Zocolo area. I quickly learned of the biggest attractions in town; hammocks and artistic murals. Vendors seem to outnumber tourists as they share their woven lounge chairs in a variety of colours for all available wallets walking by. I was tempted to take one home with ... read more

The country is the home of tequila slammers, the sombrero, guitar playing singers to serenade us, tacos and burritos, and of course corona beers with a slice of lime. Where else but fabulous Mexico, and it's wonderful to be back here after an absence of too many years. I previously visited Baja California twenty years ago, but now I'm on the other side of the country visiting the yucatan peninsula, for a sticky beak at the world famous resort towns that line the coast. The yucatan is by far the most popular destination for tourists in Mexico, and is often described as not the real Mexico. However the gulf coast is indeed the real deal ... it's the big time, the world's playground on a massive scale. Mexico is a North American powerhouse with 100 million ... read more

After walkimg around and checking out everything. We settled on having dinner at a great restuarant called Gomars. Which is on the main strip called Hildago.Just as we were going to order Mom and Ole showed up. We all had dinner together. Please forgive my typing. Our flight from Havana ended up being delayed by 4 or 5 hours, so we ended up wasting a whole day travelling and didn't arrive in Tulum till late on the evening of 3rd January. We were staying at a place called El Paraiso. The rooms were fine .. just a shame they weren't beachfront .. instead they looked onto a sandy car park .. not quite the seaview promised by the agent!! The next 8 days in Tulum were exceedingly lazy ... so much so that we didn't even make it down to visit the ruins which were only about a kilometre up the beach!! The beach at Tulum is amazing ... the whitest of sand and the most turquoise of seas .. stunning. Most days we ended up drinking cocktails from mid-afternoon onwards! We ... read more
