We left for Canada on Saturday morning, the 19th of December, and flew home to Canada via Seoul Korea and Vancouver. We arrived in Saskatoon on Saturday evening. Aaron met us and gave us a ride home. It was quite a treat to arrive in Saskatoon at 6:30PM instead of midnight like we usually do when we have to go through Hong Kong. We arrived home, unpacked, checked the mail and were in bed by 10PM. Maurice wasn't feeling well, and had a very rough trip home. Sunday morning, we picked up Tai and Tucker and took them to Langham with us to attend church with Linda's mother. It turned out the service was cancelled so the congregation gathered for lunch instead. We had a nice visit with all, and we were very pleased to find ... read more

The music project list has been so extensive these past months - switching from production mode to marketing mode immediately after my album was completed in November - that it was not until 3 a.m. that I finally completed all that I I felt I needed to do. My husband cannot fathom how I can work for twelve hours at a time non stop. I am simply driven. Perhaps a little insane. But I cannot leave a project I have committed to unfinished, and I am prone to keeping my plate very full. Anyway, one hour later we loaded up a taxi for the airport to begin our twenty eight hour journey to that part of the world that still has a solid grip on our hearts. It feels good to be travelling again, meeting others ... read more

On October 23rd, Linda's mother experienced more heart trouble and was admitted to hospital for tests and rest. After spending a week in hospital, she returned to her home in Langham. We decided that a trip home to help her adapt to her new limitations was in order. The school very graciously granted Linda a 2 week leave, and as soon as arrangements were made, we were off to Canada. We flew from Kaohsiung to Seoul Korea and then crossed the Pacific to Vancouver aboard the new 787 Dreamliner. We found it a much more comfortable flight because the plane flies 10% higher and faster. They also have higher oxygen and humidity in the cabin, the windows are 33% larger, and the ceiling is higher and the storage bins larger. We arrived in Saskatoon on November ... read more

This album, part 2 of my McKenzie Art Gallery/Shumiatcher series, features other art pieces (other than Inuit), in the Shumiatcher collection exhibition, most of which shows their love of Canadian & Saskatchewan aboriginal art & their support of these artists. Also included are some photos of the exterior & atrium of the beautiful TC Douglas Building (1979) which is home to the gallery. The building was named after TC (Tommy) Douglas, former premier & Saskatchewan's most notable and influential politician known as Canada's "Father of Medicare". Dianne said I had to finish the blog for our last holiday because we are about to embark on our next holiday. Two months in Denmark and Italy. Yahoo! And since I am writing this as we are in the plane, I had better get on it! So here comes the conclusion of our Saskatchewan/Alberta trip… The Cypress Hills Despite living in Alberta for many years, we had never been to any of the three Cypress Hills parks. We decided to go to the Centre Block and it was a great choice. The camping loops are huge and roomy with lots of separation in the sites, at least in our loop. The good news was they had flush toilets in the outhouses. The bad news was they shut off the water on September 21st due to ... read more

OK, so this trip was in September and October. I've been busy and just got around to continuing the story of our fall holiday. But, first, a return to the “scene of the crime” from last April. I was surprised to see just how high the platform I sailed off actually was. If you missed the story for last April, click here. But, now, back to the Saskatchewan trip... Preeceville We had visited Preeceville once before when we came home from China for the summer. This time we planned to see more of it and also the surrounding area. We were visiting our old Pender friends, Kathleen and Michael, on their Saskatchewan acreage. There are miles (or maybe there are kilometres) of trails on the property and we walked most of them since they walk with ... read more

Holodomor, which in Ukrainian means “extermination by hunger”, is the term used to describe the deliberate starvation of millions of Ukrainians in the Ukrainian SSR and adjacent Cossack territories between 1932 and 1933 by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin who wanted to destroy the people living there seeking independence from his rule. Millions of Ukrainians & Cossacks died of starvation during that short period, up to a third of them children. Because this unprecedented peacetime catastrophe was a deliberate political policy, it is classed as genocide.
