Saskatchewan was the first jurisdiction

in North America to formally recognize Holodomor. The province, which has a vibrant Ukranian community (13.5% of the population) wanted to honor the memory of those who perished & celebrate the legacy of those who survived including the many who found refuge in Saskatchewan. (Being an agrarian people, most survivors found refuge in Canada’s prairie provinces, ie Alberta, Manitoba & Saskatchewan.)
