It is always strange to leave one side of the planet, in the southern hemisphere, on a particular date, travel for eighteen hours, and arrive on the other side on the planet, in the northern hemisphere, relatively early in the day on the same date that we departed. It is also still a little shocking every year to adjust to the cooler climate upon arrival. And it is always a delight to rediscover that daylight hours here don't end at 6:30 p.m., but go on long into the evening, delivering the dramatic beautiful prairie sunsets for which my home province, Saskatchewan, whose vehicle license plate reads "Land of the Living Skies", is renowned. All things come and go, and the Dreamchasers adventures are no exception. Another season of global travel is over. After a few days ... read more

Compared to last year, when I was up at my computer completing promotional music projects right until the moment we left for the airport, getting ZERO sleep, this year's departure prep was much more chill. I actually got to sleep the night before we left! On the music front, I had only to pre-schedule a posting for the release of my latest album - Bev Zizzy Live Moments of Kindness - on January 13th 2017 - exactly one year from the date of my first of five consecutive monthly promotional video and sound releases on the 13th of the month - all designed to promote the June 2016 CD release of my 2016 album "Standing on a Platform of Kindness". It was a project with which I was intensely occupied for thirteen months, from May 2015 ... read more

Geo: 50.448, -104.595We left Winnipeg this morning at 8:10 AM and 66 degrees. Winnipeg is the capitol of Manitoba. Since our hotel was on the west side of the city, and we got in late last night in rush hour traffic, we never did get to the Legislative Building (we call them Capitol Buildings in the US), or into the city proper. Poor planning on our part. Heading east this morning was not in the plan, so we hit the road and pointed the car west. Most of the day we were in farm country…very flat farm country. Montana would call this "big sky" country. We saw more of the same thing that we saw yesterday…golden fields of wheat, dark green fields of soy beans, an occasional field of corn, one field of asparagus, many fields ... read more

Bennett fondly admits that it's Brie's garden so that's what I"ll call it. Brie belongs to the local horticulture society & her garden was one of the gardens chosen for a garden tour a couple weekends ago. I'm so glad I went. I was thoroughly impressed with her environment-friendly gardening techniques & knowledge. I also love their home. I had never visited before (tsk...)... read more

Wednesday I left for Saskatchewan to head to Regina. The prairies are very flat but very cute, not a boring drive like one would think! I would however recommend bringing some good music or podcasts along because it is a long ways away if you have no stops planned in between (from Winnipeg to Regina I stopped at Spruce Woods Provincial Park to see the Spirit Sands, a good way to divide up the drive). So I had heard that storms in the prairies are very beautiful because of the flat lands you can see thunder and lightning from miles away. Of course when I saw a dark dark cloud ahead on the highway I thought, this should be cool. Well it wasn’t. As I drove along the highway I had no choice but to enter ... read more

Today was just a day. We actually drove less than yesterday, but got a later start and stopped earlier. We only saw the sun once, right now after a rainstorm. The rest of the day was just gray. --- Miles Driven: 503 Geocaches Found: 4 Creatures Seen: An elk, in Elk Island National Park. We also saw a number of foals, including one nursing, and then the usual animals. Approximate Yards Knit: 99 Conversation of the Day: K: Cole, you're going to need to write a blog entry. C: What am I going to say? Dad sits there (pointing at the driver's seat) and drive all day. Mom sits there (pointing at the passenger seat) and knits. What else is there to say? We forgot placemats. Four day and counting. Seems like an eternity (slash I want it to be because I still have A LOT to do before Tuesday) and like it will come up way to fast (again I should start seriously packing). Getting prepared to leave the country for three months is a lot of work but I was still completely caught off guard by it. The amount of little things you have to have in order before you leave filled up my to-do list way to quick. I only thought of the big things like passport renewal, clothes, and vaccines. I completely forgot about money, cancelling my phone, switching my accounts over to my love, and buying cat food. This past week was meant to be spent on my couch watching the Netflix I missed over the last ... read more

In Which Four New Nursies Depart the Saskatoon Airport May 13, 2016 Our journey commences. Today I left my home in Saskatoon to embark on the internship of a lifetime. I’ve gone from the warmth and comfort next to my lovers’ body 14 hours ago to soaring about a quarter of the way across the Atlantic Ocean. In the time building up to this day I half-heartedly hoped I would suffer a minor fracture, or there would be just enough political turmoil in my destination country to disrupt my journey, but not to seriously impact anyone else’s life. Because the truth is this: I am as scared as I am excited. I am the seven-year-old girl eager to attend her best friends birthday party sleepover, but who had to call her mom to come rescue her ... read more

Geo: 50.3969, -105.536Let's be honest- we drove the long distance to MooseJaw, Saskatchewan because we were told that the filming location for the most outdoor scenes of one of our favourite TV shows was in a neighbouring town, ...... And what is that TV show?? The very Canadian classic- Corner Gas. Admittedly Corner Gas is something of an acquired taste, and the premise of a glacier slow life experience in a very small Prairie town isn't normally the source of belly laughs but there is something very humorous and Canadian about it. Similar to riding a scooter, it was one of those shows that always got good ratings and was lots of fun, but no one would actually admit to watching it. It's been in reruns for a few years now and the town isn't quite ... read more
