I had a really great Track Competition last weekend at the Kinsmen Indoor Games and the Regina Fieldhouse. After a disapointing showing at Winnipeg I had a great training week and watched my diet a bit better, with the results being some new PB's! I started off with a 9.55 in the 60mHurdles, which was much better to the 1st hurdle and in between I ran on hard, I hit the last hurdle pretty hard and maybe lost a tenth there, but overall I was happy - I can see this time coming down again at CanWest I'd been struggling in Long, but felt much better in my warm ups. On my first jump I took off really well, got my legs up and jumped 5.84 - I didnt hit the board and my legs landed ... read more

How time flies, I've been in Canada for just over a month! Heres a re-cap of whats happened so far After departing Sydney on Jan 7th (the day after winning my 2nd NSW Open Decathlon title!) i had a direct flight to Vancouver. 14 hours and alot of inflight movies later i landed at Vancouver International Airport and proceeded to the nearest Tim Hortons for a taste of Canada - its soooo good! I had a 3 hour layover which i spent wandering around the airport. I stepped outside into the -5 wearing my shorts and hoodie - not so bad! I then boarded an Air Canada Jazz flight to Regina. We flew over the rockies, which were beautiful. I knew we were getting close to Regina once the landscape flattened out and became fields of ... read more

Well here we are , "on the road again" , driving out of the driveway on Nov. 3rd ( we always seem to leave 2 days later than what we plan .... next year I'm going to pretend to leave on Oct. 29 and see if we can REALLY get away on Nov.1 ) with that "ahhhhh finally ", .... feeling that everything is covered for the next 6 months .... mail, cable, phone, water heater, etc.,etc. Content in that what we had forgotten would just be left behind and we would just have to "deal with it" !!! Our first stop would be in Calgary to visit family and friends before leaving Canada. Of course that included an early "mini Christmas" with our 2 grandgirls, plus their parents. Among our christmas gifts were a set ... read more

Hello everyone! What a year this has been! A year ago we discovered that we were expecting a second baby, and boy did things get busy quickly. As soon as Dad found out we were expecting, he started gently hinting that Saskatchewan was the place to be, and after a few months we decided he was right. We knew right from the beginning that things would need to change; our house in Edmonton needed a whole lot of work, and it was just too small for a family of 4. So after a lot of talking we decided to look into selling our house and making the move to Regina. It turned out that we had chosen the perfect time to sell in Edmonton, and we ended up selling our little home to a friend for ... read more

As summer holidays go, this year has been so awesome. We have lost ourselves in exploring Saskatchewan and touching base with so many people from our immediate and extended families. One thing that we have been faced with on occasion is a lack of internet access. Of course this does not help us with getting the blog posted in a timely manner. However, for the past few weeks we have indeed had internet access. Why aren’t we up to date with our blog? We have become immersed in the experience of being on holidays and having no deadlines, commitments, or schedules. Not a bad deal…slowing down and enjoying the moment. After our week at Otter Lake we returned to Saskatoon. Aside from taking care of some banking and other trivial things it was a rather uneventful ... read more

On to Yorkton Friday, 29 June 2007 Today we left Regina for Yorkton, a bit further east & north. However, we had to take a slight “detour” to retreive a shirt I’d left in Moosomin. It’s one I’ve had for years, one which I take travelling because it is light-weight, dark in colour, and always looks wrinkled, whether I fold it properly or not. Seems I’d left it at the motel there and only realized it when I needed it to take to a restaurant (they are often too cold for my “West Indian blood”, especially when the air-conditioning is on full bore). I’d telephoned the motel in Moosomin and yes, the gal there did have my shirt. So our plan (i.e., MY plan) was to drive to Moosomin, pick up the shirt, and drive from ... read more

Fall Down Go Boom! Thursday, 28 June 2007 Today Bob & Panna brought me to back to Fort Qu’Appelle, where I was hoping to locate a fairly long stretch of the Trans Canada Trail. Both yesterday & again today I’d inquired at the local tourist information centre to see if the folks there (volunteers, I think) knew where I could find its start - usually it’s pretty well marked once you find it. Unfortunately the couple there, although nice, knew nothing about the trail. At least this morning I had with me a map which showed it, just didn’t indicate the names of the streets. Using the map we were directed to a small road on the east side of town. But if the trail was there, it was going straight up a long steep hill, ... read more
