Wednesday I left for Saskatchewan to head to Regina. The prairies are very flat but very cute, not a boring drive like one would think! I would however recommend bringing some good music or podcasts along because it is a long ways away if you have no stops planned in between (from Winnipeg to Regina I stopped at Spruce Woods Provincial Park to see the Spirit Sands, a good way to divide up the drive). So I had heard that storms in the prairies are very beautiful because of the flat lands you can see thunder and lightning from miles away. Of course when I saw a dark dark cloud ahead on the highway I thought, this should be cool. Well it wasn’t. As I drove along the highway I had no choice but to enter ... read more

The music project list has been so extensive these past months - switching from production mode to marketing mode immediately after my album was completed in November - that it was not until 3 a.m. that I finally completed all that I I felt I needed to do. My husband cannot fathom how I can work for twelve hours at a time non stop. I am simply driven. Perhaps a little insane. But I cannot leave a project I have committed to unfinished, and I am prone to keeping my plate very full. Anyway, one hour later we loaded up a taxi for the airport to begin our twenty eight hour journey to that part of the world that still has a solid grip on our hearts. It feels good to be travelling again, meeting others ... read more

This album, part 2 of my McKenzie Art Gallery/Shumiatcher series, features other art pieces (other than Inuit), in the Shumiatcher collection exhibition, most of which shows their love of Canadian & Saskatchewan aboriginal art & their support of these artists. Also included are some photos of the exterior & atrium of the beautiful TC Douglas Building (1979) which is home to the gallery. The building was named after TC (Tommy) Douglas, former premier & Saskatchewan's most notable and influential politician known as Canada's "Father of Medicare". Holodomor, which in Ukrainian means “extermination by hunger”, is the term used to describe the deliberate starvation of millions of Ukrainians in the Ukrainian SSR and adjacent Cossack territories between 1932 and 1933 by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin who wanted to destroy the people living there seeking independence from his rule. Millions of Ukrainians & Cossacks died of starvation during that short period, up to a third of them children. Because this unprecedented peacetime catastrophe was a deliberate political policy, it is classed as genocide. Every one of the Dreamchasers' Adventures - 2013, 2014, and now 2015 - has been amazing in its own right, and each of them different. We remain grateful for this wonderful life full of opportunity to learn, to share, to somehow give back and hopefully leave each place we visit a little better than we found it, in some infinitely small way: maybe something as simple as a nice memory we exchange with the people we meet, for the one they have given us. Maybe more. Reflecting back, here is our list of highlights from Dreamchasers 2015: Seeking Sunsets, Manta Rays, and Mantras. 1. Travelling with our son. It was very special to have this time together with our son Tanner and his partner Annie, who joined us for four weeks in Lombok and Bali Indonesia. ... read more

Canada is amazing, and our prairie hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, is beautiful. In addition to wide open spaces and smiling faces, we have some of the best sunsets in the world, and unlike those tropical sunsets which are indeed stunning, our sunsets are equally dramatic, but last for hours in the summer evenings which also extend long into the night, as we are the land of the midnight sun. The prairie people are amazing and enduring as well, always exceptionally generous and ready to lend a helping hand; they are strong, down to earth people, and are some of the best musicians in the country. That strength of character and sense of community is undoubtedly attributed to the harsh winters we have learned to live with and survive together, where temperatures can dip to 50 ... read more
