I got home yesterday from spending the past little while at a cottage near Kincardine, on Lake Huron. It was absolutely gorgeous. Every morning we woke up to the waves rushing towards the shore and every evening we saw "one of the top 10 sunsets in the world," according to National Geographic. Now I'm getting ready to leave for Ghana. I feel excited to be there, happy to be with such a great group of people, very happy to be missing the winter, sad to be leaving people back home, nervous to pack, scared to be gone for six months, to get sick, and because I have no idea what's going to happen with the next bit of my life. I'm sitting in the comfort of my home, thinking about how I'll miss it here, but ... read more

We made it to Toronto and now can take pictures again!!!! Toronto was a delightful city full of cool architecture, history and young people. It has some european/french flavor to it but I would say probably more of a British / American mixture. We went up one of the world's tallest structures, the CN tower. It was worth the climb. It is quite high and a glass floor awaits you when you reach the top. You can then look down to your feet and see all the way down to the ground. We then took a tour bus in the hopes of learning more about the city. It turned out to be like a school bus ride where we got minimal explanation and stopped avery 5 minutes to drop people off or pick them up. We ... read more

Okay! So for all the right reasons i have decided that it is time to leave toronto. I'm really excited because, assuming money permits i am going to head through the states and then onto vancouver. But otherwise i'll head straight to vancouver. I'm going to transfer from godiva toronto to godiva vancouver which is nice because it means i'll have a job there waiting for me when i get there. I'll work there for 2 months and then i'll be back in Toronto for Christmas and New years. After that i'm heading to montreal, quebec (even though i've already been, i want to see them in snow) and then to halifax to see the east coast and Prince Edward Island. I'm very excited! So, before i leave i intend on spending alot of time telling ... read more

Well I never got around to writing another blog and thought it was too late by the time I got home... Adele has reminded me that it is part of the trip so here I am 2 weeks later writing. Back track... so our last week we spent in Ko Pha Ngan where it is known for its full moon party! Unfortunately, I missed the party due to flight scheduling and birthday stuff but I did get to experience a lead up party to the full moon party with 2 English girls that we met on the island and spent the week with. The girls were a riot and after a night of the ever so famous 'buckets' which are mixes of redbull, vodka or rum or whatever with a little bit of soda... (i think ... read more

We had arrived in Toronto at nearly midnight. We couldn’t find where our transfer bus to the hotel was and no one was answering the phone at the hotel. When we did find the bus stop we were told the bus would be at least an hour so we had to wait. We were really happy to get to the hotel when we did finally arrive. So we are now refreshed from our travels and heading for the city itself. We had caught the free hotel transfer bus back to the airport and were going in from there. What a nightmare. The bus was simple enough though the driver only appeared to give me one ticket for the two of us. At the subway station there were no employees to tell you where to go, no ... read more

Yeasterday I was on a full day excursion to the Niagara Falls about two hours drive from Toronto. I joined a backpackers' tour which was pretty cool, lots of nice people and a fun guide called Stephanie who made sure we were kept entertained during the day. The first stop was in Niagara on the lake, a small but very charming town with lots of old buildings (old to be North America, that means 100-150 years old). Next stop was at a winery where we did some wine tasting. I didn't actually know they produced wine in Canada, but they do. They produce both red and white wine and also what they call "icewine", the reason it's called icewine is because they crush the grapes when they are frozen. The icewine was very good, very fruity, ... read more
