Well, hello all. I am now in Toronto. I left Vancouver this morning at 10am and because of the 3 hour time difference I arrived at 5:30 pm. The flight was uneventful. I watched Mission Impossible 3, that was ok, but mum, you'd hate it, it has Tom Cruise. I got stuck in a bloody middle seat so I couldn't even sleep. Oh well, it's 8:40pm now, I have the computer for 1 hour so by the time I get to bed it will be around 10:30. I don't really have set plans here but I am excited to explore the city and see what comes up. I am going to Niagra Falls on Wednesday, that will be an all day trip. I can't see any leads at this computer to do my photo's though so ... read more

We spent the next few days up in cottage country at Scott's brother Mark, his wife Karen and their boys Conall and Logan's house. They had a tornado touch down right next their house a few weeks prior. It was amazing the damage that was done to their property yet they were fine and the house only sustained minor damage. Countless trees with trunks larger around than my arm span were just uprooted and tossed around. We spent a relazing afternoon touring Muskoka Lake on a old steamship. It is beautiful. It reminded me a lot of the San Juans. We played golf at a beautiful resort call Deerhurst. Scott and I shot the usual, he did fine and I did lousy. :-).... read more

I will admit this is a bit of a summary entry. Its kind of strange because i spent the longest time in Toronto compared with any other city but probablly took the least photos. Toronto is a great city. Huge and beautiful on a sunny day not so much fun when its raining. I stayed in a brilliant hostel in Kensington Market which has a mix of students, artists, druggies and hippies. It reminded me a lot of Fremantle. It was also on the edge of China town which made for some interesting shopping and experiences. I did the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario for an excellent Andy Warhol exhibition, the Hockey Hall of Fame - and I will admit the only bit of information I actually retained was that Tim Horton was ... read more

We visited both the US and Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It is a huge amount of water going over the falls. Scott and I were drenched by the mist twice, once at the bottom of the US falls and the other time walking on the Canadian side. I was not impressed by the light show at night and the photos from night were not that great.... read more

So, we're here in Thunder Bay. Kyli and I drove over 2000 miles in 2 days so we could get here and get a site around noon and relax for an entire day. Ahhhh... Canada has been pretty cool so far. Very big and quite rural. Even the big cities don't seem that big. :) The Canadian highway kinda sucks, but the view has been spectacular along the way. I don't know when we'll get Internet again so I'm posting as much as I can about the last few days/week. I will elaborate on them as soon as I can. I was going to add more pictures as well, but I'll need to resize them first since the Internet connections take too long to upload. So be sure to check back (maybe it'll notify you when ... read more

I’ll start by saying I have always wanted to go to Ireland. It’s drawn me as long as I can remember. Finally, this January, I planted the idea of a trip to Ireland in my best friend, Jenn’s, mind. Once she informed me that she was dead set on going to Greece, however, I knew it would take some work. I’m basically the whitest white person ever, and the sun is not my friend. Greece simply wasn’t on my radar screen. “Ireland is very green,” I told her, knowing she works in horticulture. Didn’t quite work, but she seemed to be bending a little, so I went in for the coup de grace “There’s lots of booze in Ireland, you know.” I saw her eyes light up. Home run. We got some guidebooks and started researching ... read more

Made a last minute decision to dive across the border to Canada for the weekend. Influenced by the shattering of our illusion that the Great Lakes were of similar beauty to the Lake District (in fact they are unbelievably industrial) and also that we can legally drink there. Stayed in Toronto in a cute little hostel downtown and had a pretty relaxing weekend seeing the city and sampling the nightlife. Went on a hostel pub crawl only to duck out at the second bar, as we found an cool live band. Stayed till the early hours to listen and get free drinks from the band who thought it was awesome we were from Manchester. Left Toronto on Monday evening for Chicago, on an overnight Greyhound (actually quite a plush bus). Had been warned that the experience ... read more

Hello everyone! I've never done this before, this blogging thing, but here it goes..... I've got less than a week before I'm off on the greatest adventure of my life. I have no idea what lies ahead of me, but I do know that the next few days are going to be some of the most stressful I've ever experienced. I'm rushing around, making sure I've got everything, and I still have quite a ways to go. They should make a pill for chronic procrastination. Anyway, this entry is mostly just a test, as I'm trying to figure out how to work this. If I don't see you before I leave, I'll miss you and I might forget about you, but I'll remember you when I come back. ^^b PEACE... read more
