While our parents generation had Pearl Harbor, V-E and V-J days and knew what they were doing on those days. Our generation remembers what we were doing when President John Kennedy was assassinated and when the twin towers in New York fell. It has been five years since terrorist hijacked four planes and attacked the United States. Today it is referred to simply as 9/11. Here’s to the heroes of Flight 93. … We were so excited to visit Home & Park Motors, birthplace of our Roadtrek 200 Versatile Motor Home. The visitors parking area was made only for cars; Will found a spot and backed in. We entered the brick building through the double door entryway and approached the desk where a young woman sat talking into a microphone headset. The large room was divided ... read more

Hi all, I hope all is well with everyone at home. I wanted to catch you all up on the recent things that have been happening here and let you know what Ill be up to in the coming months. Recently I went to my friend Julias home town, Guelph. She invited me and Mike there for the weekend as her parents were away for the weekend and we sensed another town to conquer. Guelph is a typical small country town. Fantastic views, hills and fields as far as you can see and big lake expanses where the locals sail and waterski and such. It was definately fun to get away from the city for a couple of days and see somewhere a bit less bustly. We ended up going out to a bar on the ... read more

I can't believe my time in Canada has come to an end. I spoke with Chris today & she said "Are you sad?"....ummmmm. NO. I am excited to be going on with my trip and seeing what is around the corner. I have had an absolute blast here and I have loved almost every second of it. The good definately outweighs the bad. Not that there has been too much bad. I will definately be back one day!!!!!!!!! I am disappointed that I cannot get photo's on here for my last Canadian blog, I will try & find an internet cafe at the airport, since I have 7 hours to wait there. Future plans are as follows........U.K for 2 days, leave tuesday for Europe for 21 days, 3 days in Scotland, 4 days with Justin back ... read more

Parting is such sweet sorrow Well, this entry will be very short as it is now just past midnight, and Joe and I have to get up at 5 to get going to the airport to fly out. I can't believe how quickly the past few days have flown by! I'm proud of myself for not crying when saying good bye to so many people the past few weeks. I have to say, the kids are the worst for me...back at the beginning of August, saying good-bye to the neice and nephews, trying to explain to them that they would be done another year of school before we saw them again...my landlords 4-year-old made me cry when we moved out because he hugged me so tight and wouldn't let go of me! and tonight saying bye ... read more

Toronto Can't believe i am finally here, its been a looooong time coming. The last couple of months have been hectic and sad at the same time saying goodbye to you all, and I am still waiting for my mind set to change. I still feel guilty at spending money until I remember this is what I have been saving for. Its nice not to have that feeling when you are doing nothing that there really is something that you should be doing.... but not any more!!! Guess this will turn into more of a diary than a travel blog as will be spending a lot of time in Sydney, working :( but i plan to enjoy it until then.... Well, I think I had the jammiest start to my trip....whilst trying not to be one of ... read more

Canada or Canadia as I think it should be called has been great so far. Crossing the boarder not only added another stamp to my passport but introduced me to the most contradictory place that I think I have ever seen. Niagara Falls is one of the most spectacular things that I have ever seen but the land surrounding it was not declared as a national park so there is revoulting development on each side, particularly the candaian side as the water spills over into Canada from the States. Imagine the tackiest place you have ever seen, doucle it and then put some waterfalls near it. That is what Niagara Falls (Canada) is like. Depiste this, as we were in Canada and the under agers were now legal, we had to make it out to the ... read more

After the first visit in Toronto I met up with Lindsay to head to her cottage for a few days. Cottage Country is something these canadians are very proud of. I guess its a lot like having a beach house back home. I was lucky because Georgian Bay is apparently THE place to go if you are looking for a canadian cottage experience. I went up with Lindsay and her three room mates. Lindsay was just getting set up in her new student house out in Guelph where she goes to University. So I got to crash the pre-uni girls weekend at the cottage. Lind's cottage was beautiful as was the bay. It was still so strange to look out on all that water and think that is was a lake. We had a miss-adventure in ... read more

We arrived Thursday night to spend a few days with George and Sheila, Scott's dad and his wife. We attended the play Spamalot on Saturday afternoon. I thought it was amusing and Scott just loved it. We attended a Bluejays vs. Indians game on Labor Day. So I have one more ballpark checked off my list. I did not realize prior to this game that the Skydome was a retractable roof. It was open for the game and the perfect temperature of around 70. It is amazing to see so few people in attendance, it seems even less than the Mariners. Scott played a little golf with his dad, as I tried to finalize odds and ends prior to our departure from North America... read more

We had started out in Chicago the night before & caught an overnight Amtrak train through Toledo, Cleveland arriving in Buffalo in the morning. The train was spacious & the seats reclined without invading other passengers space but they were not very comfortable & very hard to sleep on. When we rolled into Buffalo in the morning we realised that most of the passengers alighting here were also on their way to Niagara but rather than catching a local bus for the forty minute journey to Niagara they were waiting seven hours for the next train there instead. They had settled on the wooden benches in the waiting room & did look slightly more comfortable than they were on the train. We caught the bus into town through the run down areas & then another onto ... read more
