Ok, so im back from my thanksgiving weekend. If ur wondering why canada has an earlier thanksgiving than america its because they get their harvests first. Not because the pilgrims came here first and then went to america as i assumed!!!! lol!!! Well i was kindly invited to go home with my mentor Nancy for thanksgiving and I swiftly took her up on the offer to get an experience of a traditional family thanksgiving, I must say that it was!!! We travelled to her house where her dad, his girlfriend, her daughter and nancy's dog drove 3hours to their cottage. I was very surprised when we arrived at a small harbour and was told that we could only get to the cottage by boat!!!! I know, it's amazing!!!! Their cottage is on an island of its ... read more

2 and half weeks to go, which hardly seems possible. And, even though we're still in disbelief, there's a ton of practical stuff that needs to be taken care of. Moving/parking/storage/insurance/visas are all demanding our attention, and work, well, work isn't over until it's over, and that's at least five days away. We've sewn our flags onto our backpacks, realized the value of thimbles (who knew?), and reviewed our packing and shopping lists. Our arms are sore from yet another round of shots, and there's still one more to go until we're invincible! I've contacted a couple of hotels in Delhi, and received no response. So I am getting a little nervous that'll we'll be at the mercy of the touts when we arrive - hopefully someone will write back soon! I've heard that the introduction ... read more

I’ll begin by describing our schedule leading up to the trip. Things were really busy getting everything ready for the trailer in the two weeks before our departure on October 9th. Some things had to be finished up inside the Shave Lab, I was running around making sure we had everything ready for the big road trip and for the truck and trailer, and Geoff and the people at BOOM! were arranging all the logistics of the program including lodgings and events. We really had to be ready for the big trip for Wednesday October 4th because that’s when we left for a couple of events at McGill and Concordia Universities in Montreal. To keep a long story relatively short, Montreal was a lot of fun. We arrived very late on the Wednesday because Geoff couldn’t ... read more

I hardly unpacked last night, but since Baz is so huge, there was a little bit of drama fitting him back into the luggage. He must have helped himself to some pumpkin squash while everyone was sleeping! Phil thought about calling in to work sick or just showing up whenever he wanted to. He has been working some crazy hours getting the new Home Depot store in town ready for their opening day and he hasn’t even been sleeping properly. He drives Kryssie and myself down to the airport and we hang around for a bit until we see Kryssie’s mom, Jade as well as a family friend show up. I don’t mind waiting around at the airport for another two hours while I wait for my plane back to Toronto, but the four girls ... read more

Where I come from, waterfalls are common, so I had to see for myself, if Niagra would be that much more stupendous. When I reach there, even before actually seeing it, I could hear it's thunderous roar. Seeing it also was another great surprise, seeing it’s expanse, height, power and beauty really really impressed me. However, words can not do it justice, perhaps video clips could help, which I’m sorry I have none of. So I guess photos will have to suffice. Also on the way back to the bus station, came across a park with mini-replicas of famous landmarks. Enjoyed it, since I may not be able to see these places in real life. ... read more

On July 9 1960, Roger Woodward inadvertently became the first person to go over the falls unaided and survive; he was protected only by a lifejacket and an embarrassingly large amount of luck. He had been upstream in a small boat with his sister Deanne and his uncle Jim when their vessel had developed engine trouble. Though he rowed frantically Jim was no match for the current and they were soon rushing towards the falls at a trouser-staining pace. Fate and Lady Luck must have had a soft spot for children that day as Deanne was rescued a mere six metres from the edge of the Horseshoe Falls. Both Roger and Jim however went over the edge where Fate delivered the ultimate kick in the teeth to Jim by robbing him of this process of existence ... read more

welcome to our travel blog! Here we will keep track of our adventures as we cross Canada for the benefit of ourselves and friends and family interested in hearing about what we’ve been up to! First I will begin by explaining how we got this opportunity to do this trip. Geoff works for a company called BOOM! Marketing. He was involved in the development of a program for one of their clients, Schick, to promote their new razor, the Quattro Titanium. The program is a secret shave lab that is staffed by Dr. Smooth and 3 lovely lab assistants. Guys are welcomed to enter the Shave Lab to participate in a secret experiment. In the end, they leave with a brand new Titanium razor and a lab report, which includes a coupon for replacement blades. The ... read more

I woke up at 2am because my tooth was aching very badly. I went to brush my teeth and wash it out several times but the pain wouldn’t subside. I didn’t have any painkillers or aspirins on me so I went for an early morning walk around to find any store that would sell anything to alleviate my pain. I went back to walk up Yonge St and there was still the calmness and safeness that I hadn’t experienced in any other Northern American city at night. For once, I felt safe to be out at night by myself. I continued walking around but I only found a coffee house called Tim Horton’s, where I bought a bottle of water as well as a hot coffee. There was a bum that was outside the store ... read more
