welcome to our travel blog! Here we will keep track of our adventures as we cross Canada for the benefit of ourselves and friends and family interested in hearing about what we’ve been up to! First I will begin by explaining how we got this opportunity to do this trip. Geoff works for a company called BOOM! Marketing. He was involved in the development of a program for one of their clients, Schick, to promote their new razor, the Quattro Titanium. The program is a secret shave lab that is staffed by Dr. Smooth and 3 lovely lab assistants. Guys are welcomed to enter the Shave Lab to participate in a secret experiment. In the end, they leave with a brand new Titanium razor and a lab report, which includes a coupon for replacement blades. The secret shave lab is a mobile unit and we’re taking it to introduce the Titanium to Western Canada. That’s where I come in… My official title is the Schick Shave Lab Transporter. I think that sounds better than driver, but I’m happy with both titles. My responsibility is to do ensure that the Shave Lab gets to each event on time and in good shape. When we arrive at each site I will get the lab up and running while
Geoff quite literally takes care of business.
The events that we are going to include a couple of CFL games, some events on the UBC campus, and a few market rides in BC, including one at Whistler. A market ride happens when there isn’t an event occurring at a specific location. We set up shop on a busy street to distribute razors and show a few guys into the lab.
This has been an incredible opportunity. I have always wanted to do a road trip across the country, and now I’m doing it with my brother…and getting paid for it! Not too shabby. We’re trying to take advantage of every opportunity to enjoy every spot we stop at, even though our schedule for the Shave Lab doesn’t leave too much room. Geoff and I both have a tendency to want to sleep a lot, but we have had a very serious chat about that and we both recognized this as being a problem. We made a pact to take every opportunity to experience some of the local culture at every stop. With that being said, we will blog as much as we can to tell you about those experiences.
