I’ll begin by describing our schedule leading up to the trip. Things were really busy getting everything ready for the trailer in the two weeks before our departure on October 9th. Some things had to be finished up inside the Shave Lab, I was running around making sure we had everything ready for the big road trip and for the truck and trailer, and Geoff and the people at BOOM! were arranging all the logistics of the program including lodgings and events. We really had to be ready for the big trip for Wednesday October 4th because that’s when we left for a couple of events at McGill and Concordia Universities in Montreal. To keep a long story relatively short, Montreal was a lot of fun. We arrived very late on the Wednesday because Geoff couldn’t get out of the office until very late. We pulled up to the Novotel hotel at 3 in the morning. Driving into the city was a little sketchy because there was a lot of construction and narrow streets. Pulling a 30 foot long trailer in Montreal was a little nerve wracking to say the least. Drivers there are not the most courteous in the world,

but we survived. We had a couple of long days handing out razors to Mcgill and Concordia students on the Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately Geoff and I passed out before we could go out on the Thursday night… we were invited to go to a speed dating event at the campus bar at Concordia. It’s probably best we didn’t go because they were advertising $1 beers and we had to get up really early on Friday morning.
We had to leave Montreal after our event at McGill on Friday to get back to the city for Thanksgiving festivities on Saturday. I enjoyed Thanksgiving with the Alonzo’s on Saturday, and with the Brooks clan on Sunday. We were scheduled to leave for Sudbury on Monday after an event at the Argos game at the Rogers Center. To say the least it was a little hectic, but I’m just happy that we were able to enjoy thanksgiving with our family before we left.
The event at the Argos game went smoothly… the highlight for me was having a camel from the Toronto zoo next to us before the game. It got better when we learned that the camel had a bit of tummy trouble and couldn’t contain himself when surrounded by a number of curious onlookers. Stinky.
The original plan was to leave right after the game, but we just had to stop by the house for some turkey leftovers.
Then we were off.
