WEDNESDAY, MAY 12: DAY 59 We left Edmonton about 11:00 after a wonderful two days with Kirk and Debra Armstrong. We drove as far as Saskatoon where we stopped for the night after having lunch in Lloydminister. Our plan was to make it as far as Regina but the day was not long enough. It was very interesting to watch the changing landscape from the mountains in the western part of Alberta to the rolling hills and then the vastness of Saskatchewan. There was very little traffic on the roads and sometimes as far as the eye could see we would be the only car. Of course, this will change as soon as the holiday season arrives. I had an early start as Curt was picking me up and took me too Marie's school. She met me and took me on a tour of the school and then I went to kindergarten class. Diane was the teacher who was in charge and she was very friendly. The morning group had 24 children in but they were all so sweet and funny. I helped prepare the snacks and then all the children read to me their caterpillar books they had stuck fruit shapes in. We went out to play on the slides and then the children went to daycare. I had a break about half 10 and Marie met me for lunch at 12 and we went along with the vice principal to a restaurant where I had my first quesadilla which was lovely. ... read more

I got up and watched TV, spoke to my parents and sorted out my blog. It was really nice to relax and be by myself for the first time in a month.... read more

We went to Osbourne Village and Cordon. Osbourne village was good but there weren’t many shops, there were a few boutiques and lots of restaurants but it was nice to see other places. Cordon was good as we went to Sugar Mountain where they had chocolate covered bugs. They had chocolate covered ants and a mixed box of insects as well as plain worms and bacon and cheese flavour crickets. Unsurprisingly we didn’t buy any as AJ had tried worm before and said they weren’t great. They also had lolly pops with worms in and a jelly with a butterfly in. We got up late and went to Polo Park to look around, it was a nice mall and was great to shop at different places with different brands. I was still pretty tired so I didn’t feel much like shopping but we still wondered around so I could see the area. It was nice to see new shops and look around. We drove to the Forks and had mini donuts which were amazing. We went to the top of the building were they had a balcony and then wondered by the river where there was a dog show on. A guy had 3 dogs which he was doing tricks with. We walked to John Terminal and looked about it all reminded me of outside markets just inside. We had a drink and then went home as ... read more
