Hey guys So, I've included some pretty boring pics of Whistler just so you can get an idea of where I'm living right now. Have I told you how fab it is here? I had a couple of days off work last week so being the spontanious and crazy person that I am, my house mate and myself decided to head to Seattle for the weekend. Bare in mind that we decided this on the friday evening!! So we jumped in my car and off we went (Via Vancouver to get a fried breakfast cooked lovingly by my good friend Richard), crossed the border with little effort and down highway 99 (well, actually we got onto route 5, god knows how, but ended up in Seattle anyway) and hit the city at full tilt! We arrived ... read more

Being a Xavier Rudd fan for a while now but never having the privilege to see him perform live, I didn't hesitate to snap up a couple of tickets when I saw the advertisement in the local Georgia Straight newpaper. Ari left for Sydney to attend his brother's wedding 3 days before the concert leaving me with a spare ticket. No one wants to see a concert by themselves and lucky for me, a friend of a friend of a friend who I've never met before was keen to come with me... you beaudy! So I met up with Jen before the gig for some Mongolian BBQ - it was just like the Genghis Khan restaurant in Sydney. The venue for the gig was the Malkin Bowl at Stanley Park (one of North America's largest urban ... read more

Hey y'all, Hows everyone doing? Well this is it. One adventure finishes, and another begins. Tomorrow, I move out of my comftable surroundings of Vancouver city (and sofa) and up the windy path to Whistler ( to a matress)!! This past week i've been partying (nothing unusual there) going to late night viewing of X-men3 (after drinking, Hairy Ape Man its wicked!) and climbing up Grouse Mountain (again after drinking). Does anyone see a pattern developing?? Grouse was pretty cool. Its only 2k up, but my god did it work the leg muscles. Rich and I took a steady pace, taking our time, only to be over taken by OAPs who do the grind once a week. Infact, some insane people run up it. Personally, I think thats an urban legand though!!!! It can't possably be ... read more

Hey y'all, Hows everyone doing? O.k, so heres the update so far.... After spending the first week chilling out with my mates Rich, Kev, and Carl in Vancouver, going to a huge park called Stanley Park, drinking, eating out and general kicking back and enjoying Canada, we headed to Vancouver Island through the gulf islands via ferry and onto Victoria (the capital) where the boys are from. Their high school was celebrating its 100th year, so was hosting an all american (!!!) weekend of 'socker', bbq, beer gardens, tour around the school. A very strange affair I have to admit. It was exactly as you might imagine a posh, american stlye school 'fun day' to be even though it's canadian and supposed to be run by english influences!!! I think the head of the school is ... read more

Hello once again, you have found me sitting in an Asian gaming cafe on Robson Street in the Downtown area of Vancouver... I shopped around and $2cad p/h was the best I could come up with as far as net cafe's go and this one seems comfortable. In this journal I shall cover my 5 days in Seattle and my 5 days in Vancouver, which I have been touring by myself. Im pretty tired right now, so I hope this entry will be interesting... we shall see. The alarm blasted we awake as usual, I awoke from a deep sleep to the sound of rain gently falling on the roof of my Aunty's home in Salt Lake City for the last time. I bid farewell to Louie after a few drinks the night before and the ... read more

I waved Mick and Lucy off at the bus station in Jasper and spent the next three hours alone until my train arrived to take me over to Vancouver. I think those three hours were the only 3 hours I've spent on my own since leaving New York, it actually felt quite odd not being with the others despite it literally only being for a few hours. I saw a train pulling into the station an hour before I was due to board so I headed down to the platform to see if I could board early. I saw two lads with backpacks getting off the train and asked then if it was the train to Vancouver. They were from Switzerland and they'd just arrived from Toronto and were going to be staying in Jasper then ... read more

5/2/2006 Well a lot has happened since our last entry. We had a great day in Fiji relaxing by the pool, with both of us being sunburnt the only complication (me in particular). Sunscreen wasn't a priority when packing for the North American and European winters, but I wish it was! When we arrived at Nadi airport that night, we learnt that our flight had been delayed by 3 hours - making it two in the morning. There was also a transfer stop at Honolulu that wasn't in our itinerary. We befriended a Hawaiian chick - Bonnie, and a Canadian who had been in Sydney for two years - Mike. We shared a pizza and had some beers, before watching episodes of the OC on Mike's laptop that haven't been aired in Australia yet! When we ... read more

Up again at 4 am and checked in at halifax with no problem. Trouble began in Toronto with mechanical problems with the landing gear on the flight to Vancouver. After an hour delay we were on our way. At Vancouver we hustled to the other end of the airport to make our connection to Tokyo. More mechanical problems and a delay of 3.5 hours. A new plain was provided. Again, we were seated in the back row. Is that where they put the people flying on travel points? We were too late arriving in Tokyo to make our connection to Bangkok so Air Canada put us up at the Narita Exel Hotel, close to the airport and gave us vouchers for supper and breakfast. There was a lot of efficient helpful staff around. It has a ... read more
