So, first of all, it's time for a change of language ;). No, seriously, I decided to try and write my blogs in English. Not while I want all of you to see how many mistakes I still make in my English ;), but since that way also non Dutch people can understand a bit of my blog. That way the people I hang out with over here can be sure I'm not telling any mean stuff about them or so :p. Well, yesterday we've been to a Hitmen game.. That's a hockey team in Calgary, not as good as the Flames (- not premier league or so..), but better then the Dino's, the UCA team. They do however play in the same, impressive stadium as the Flames do. And I just loved the game!! Didn't ... read more

What a start! I've bought my ticket and am waiting for it in the mail!! About a week and a half ago I found out that my passport was expiring while I would be on my travels (June to be exact!), this I'm sure would have given me quite a few problems when I would have landed in India! I wonder how often this happens? I'm sure there's other guys like me out there without a care for such bureaucratic procedures! This ofcourse started a mad crazy rush to get my passport renewed. One would think that the shocks would end there.....but noooo....not at all. While Daniel was checking my application forms, he saw that my Alberta driver's license had expired on my birthday (April 10, 2005). So that means that I've been driving on ... read more

Greetings! 7 months and 15 days is the time left until we depart. So this travel blog is being started a little bit early, but I'm sure there will be a few things along the road of planning that I'd like to journal. Life is a bit hectic right now. We are moving into a new house on February 10th! Which means we are in the midst of packing everything and that's a pain. I'll introduce my family: Me (Erin) - 24, unemployed right now and searching for my "niche" I guess. I'm hoping this trip will push me outside my comfort zone and allow me to see what I can really achieve. I tend to be a bit shy also.

January 7 The first day on the slopes this winter. It was a nice family excursion with roommates James and Trina. At noon we met up with our neighbours Chris and Carly. James and Chris went for a couple of runs in the Dive because they're hardcore skiers and they got the 'gear' while I went for a few runs with the girls. It was a pretty good day all in all. About -5 with some sun but unfortunately some low clouds prevented me from getting an awesome panoramic shot. Enjoy the pics. Also some pics from the Flames-Leafs game at the Saddledome and post-game festivities from January 6. Unfortunately the Leafs got shut out (1-0) but it was a great game all the same. ... read more

Even een kleine update. Dat vak over management issues met informatiesystemen was way too easy.

When we woke up today it was an absolutely glorious day. We decided to get an early start and go cross-country skiing, so we got down to the ski hire shop at 9am. However, today was not our lucky day… After hiring our skis we headed out of the shop, but before we could head off, a recurring medical problem Adam had had presented itself to be an infection. So we went to the Chemist who told us we needed to go to the doctor, something every traveller shuns! We prepared ourselves for the financial wack and tried to find the doctor’s surgery which was a trial in its self! After a couple of hours, we emerged. I surveyed the magnificent day and sighed. After getting a script filled and forking out more money, it was ... read more

Today was our first day in Jasper and we decided to go on a hike in search of wildlife. It was about -5 degrees C which is a perfect temperature for outdoor winter activities. We drove to Pyramid Lake and parked at the end of the road at Pyramid Island. We then started on a trail to Pyramid Bench. Pyramid Bench is a big ridge with smaller ridges jutting out of it. There is series of trails that cross one another and cover most of the Bench. We started at the far end and followed the trail up a steep incline to the top of Bench. We then followed the main trail along the edge of the bench. We were so keen to see wildlife that we ended up following the main trail for five hours! ... read more
