My mom brought to my attention that I never wrote anything about the KTV bar that we went to to with the other foreign teachers in China. Singing is a very popular thing to do, people are always asking us to sing a song. The KTV bar that we went to was in a private room. The only food & drinks that were brought were what we asked for so if a group doesn't want any alcohol then they just order other drinks. I can't sing & the English songs that they had on the computer were so old that most of them I had never even heard before, but it was fun anyways. We had a few Chinese people with us so it was nice to hear them sing too. The other thing that ... read more

Hi Guys, Well, only 7 sleeps to go till I touch down in sunny Melbourne! Been pretty busy the last week playing cricket with eskimo's, making curling look like brain surgery and giving Matt a decent send off... Last monday the temp was about 27 deg, sunny and beautiful, by Saturday morning it was -3deg with wind chill, and Matt and I set off to Riley Park in search of the mercy rule. It wasn't to be. Despite making a point to wear 3 tea-shirts and (i shit you not) 5 jumpers & 3 beanies, some genius decided that the game would go ahead. I will never again complain about playing in cold weather! we scrambled to 140 odd in our 40 overs, a fair target considering the conditions. St Johns did their best to ... read more

We arrived in Calgary with a bit of a problem. We didn’t actually know where our B&B was. Our map was just too big a scale to show the road so we go into a shopping mall to find a book shop. Apparently people in Calgary don’t read because there are no book stores. We find a pay phone and call the B&B - thankfully they are in and it appears we are just around the corner. The B&B is nice but the owners are having their dinner so we slip out and take advantage of still having the car by driving downtown. Downtown Calgary is pretty dead at night. Our hosts later explained that the town is so spread out and the shopping malls so big there really isn’t any need to go downtown. Calgary ... read more

In our attempt to get out of the cold we sent out an SOS and lucky for us Laela & Jordan, (Sister & Nephew of Liz who has the misfortune of going out with Danny) came to our rescue! We only intended to stay for a couple of nights but to be truthful we were getting looked after so well we really didn't want to leave. After having a guided tour of the premises by Jordan we settled down for a night infront of the TV and with Jordan being a film buff and a horror fan we watched the 1st Friday the 13th movie - Lillooet lake!! The next day was a big day for me....it was haircut day!! Laela had made it quite clear that she wasn't prepared for guests of hers to bring ... read more

Ive been getting some emails and msn notes that people dont know where I am. Well to sum it all up Im back home in Calgary! The trip through Europe was amazing but I ran out of money too quick and towards the end I was just way too burnt out to go look for work overseas so I caught a standby flight home and I have been back here ever since. I think that was back on the 11th so Ive been back a while now. I flew home just before that London flight bombing scare so I got home just in time. I start work on September 5th at a company in Calgary www.pason.com. I am a Help Desk Analyst there. I am going to be doing telephone and email tech support for their ... read more
