Hi, Well once again sorry it's taken so long. (seems to be a recurring beginning to these blogs) However in my defence I'm sure that you don't really want to hear all about us working, eating and sleeping which is pretty much what we've been up to. So today has been a little disruptive. Our bathroom upstairs is undergoing some maintenance in the bathroom. (For the last week we have had no toilet - so this is being fixed - the problem is quite disgusting and I'm not going into it). Anyways since the room is construction zone it's meant that Tyson has spent all day sitting around downstairs computering. (which I'm sure he does really enjoy). Hmmmmmm what else has been happening. Oh yes grocery shopping was done this morning. (fun times - Tyson ... read more

I decided that since the weather was supposed to be sorry in Roma this weekend I'd take a weekend trip to one of the places I wanted to visit in europe. I arrived in Dublin and met up with my friend Matt who's giving me a place to stay while I'm here and got a mini-tour of the city, which is sooooo beautiful! He even taught me to longboard, which was really awesome until I fell off and had to take an evening trip to the emergency room only 8 hours after my arrival, welcome to Dublin...lol. Matt and three other guys stayed with me at the hospital until we found out we'd be waiting all night to be seen, so we gave up and went back to the house. Saturday morning I went to a ... read more

The last days were really fully booked. On Friday we were rock climbing the whole day with some mentors outside in the Buda Hills. Really good and nice to learn/try it a little bit. Saturday morning I went with Andre to Tokaj - the famous white wine region in the northeast of Hungary. There had arranged to meet with the other esn-group from Debrecen. In price it is quite cheap here. Accomodation less than 7€ and beer in the Disco also only 1€. Before we started with wine tastings, we looked around in the village of Tokaj and visited the wine museum. If you want wine, you must only ring at some door and ask to get one. Then you go with the wine grower to his wine cellare, taste some and drink what you ... read more

Hola Tod@s! The above as I've discovered is how people address things when they want to include both women and men in the normally patriarchal language that is Spanish. Anyway..Toledo and Madrid this weekend! So on Friday we met at Correos at 8:00am and headed to Toledo. We probably arrived there at around 1:30pm...long ride! So, we had a little bit of free time when we first got there in which I ate my sandwiches that Monica had packed for me and got some actually ice cream (in the form of a hot fudges sundae) from McDonalds....I know, that's tacky while I'm in Spain, but it was good! Then we had a guided tour around the city...and I bet you'll never guess what sorts of things we saw...churches! The tour was really great, the tour ... read more

Bonjour. We are having lots of fun here in Paris. We've had incredibly beautiful weather, which helps alot, as we are doing tons of walking. We've seen all the major sites, and also just wandered around a good bit. We're staying in the 10th arrondisement, which is a working-class neighborhood about a mile north of the Seine and the tip of the Island that Notre Dame is on. One of our highlights was having dinner last night at the house of Marine's parents. Marine was our au pair in Minneapolis three summers ago; she is now a law student here in Paris. Her parents live about a mile from our apartment, and they very graciously invited us over last night. We had an all-French meal: pate, bread, cheese, sausage, champaigne, red wine, macaroons, etc. Both ... read more

Oh class. I went up to school before class to get some more work done, I realized I still had a few things that needed to be done on my drawings, so I went and finished that up before class. So now my drawings are ready to be traced. Class went well, it was our last real class, our paper is due next Monday and we have an on-site lecture, then for our Wednesday class, we’re just reviewing for the final. That’s scary, less then 2 weeks until our final. Eeek! ... read more

Monday we took another trip to the Pig park; this time one of the mama pigs had had babies! They were so cute. Just as amusing and entertaining as the baby pigs was watching Gerald, the pig park ranger, interacting with the mama pig and her babies. It is incredible how comfortable he is with the pigs, and vice versa. There are significantly fewer pigs in the park now than there was when I first visited the park five weeks ago. They have been slowly selling the pigs to other parks, and selling some to people to be consumed. There are only about a dozen or so pigs left in the park, and soon the park will close because of the owner of the land does not want the pigs there anymore. Gerald is obviously ... read more

I got to Paris from Barcelona by night train! And it was a really cool experience! I paid a little extra to get a couchette, which I thought was a chair you could put back, but it’s actually a proper (well kinda) little bed in a cabin, and because I’m over 26 I had to have a 1st class eurail ticket so I got a room with only 4 beds. A lot roomier then the six bed 2nd class one I thought I had, and lets just say I really appreciated not having to step out into Paris again smelling like eau de Urine, and really appreciate the funny little old French man who helped me find the right place to be. Paris, again! I saw a lot of Paris last time I was there ... read more

Well, we've arrived in Germany safe and sound :) It's 2:20 in the afternoon here, which is 8:20pm Eastern Time back in the States (Sorry...I was tired and meant to say 8:20am!!) and we're all pretty tired. We're in Hanau for the night and they're putting us on a bus to Mannheim first thing in the morning. If permanent housing is as nice as the temporary place they put us in I'll be pretty okay with living on post :) Our plane got into Frankfurt at 7:30 this morning and it took us a while to clear immigration, get all of our luggage and the dogs, and go through customs (which is where they look at the boys' medical paperwork). It all got slowed down because there were a lot of those big green Army duffels ... read more
