So I am writing this after a big day of packing and unpacking. My case is way under the weight thankfully(means i can bring more stuff back!) and I am pretty sure I have everything I will need, if not TOUGH! If it is something essential I'm sure I can get it whilst I'm there, its not like I'm going to be in the middle of nowhere. I dont feel nervous funnily enough, I think I still cant quite believe I am actually going! So I am pretty chilled out about it all at the moment. I do have little bursts of excitedness and I am sure once I am on the plane I am going to be very excited! I dont really have much to say apart from I hope that this blog will be ... read more

So it is getting really close now, 3 weeks and 6 days!! The nerves are kicking in but thankfully the excitement overpowers it. I had a little panic a few days ago after going through my papers. I realised that the flight times overlapped on the journey home. I called the Cosmos and they said it was a massive mistake and that they will sort it out for me. I wanted to doublecheck my flight to Heathrow was ok so i called BMI only to be told it had been cancelled in April!!! I wasnt happy, when were they going to let me know???! So after about 45 mins of panicking anf worrying whether my dream holiday would even happen, Cosmos called back. The lovely lady told me that everything was all sorted. I was now ... read more

Just a little update on some of my buys! I bought the case last year, i was looking for something bright but also light and this weighs less than my handbag!! I have been buying holiday clothes this week. There is something so nice about buying brightly coloured vests and shorts when you know where you will be wearing them. I kind of have it in my head what i will be taking with me,a pair of jeans, cropped trousers, few paris of shorts and a couple of sundresses should be enough. Then a few vests, tshirts, floaty tops and a cardigan and light jacket. I am not really planning on going out at night apart from dinner so i will most likely team a dress with a pair of nice sandals for a more dressier outfit. Shoe ... read more

So a little update to tell you that my trips are booked! There are a couple of other short trips i am thinking of taking but i am still unsure about them at the moment. I arrive in San Fracisco on the Wednesday so figured i would spend the next 2 days exploring. On the FridayI have booked to do the night tour of Alcatraz, i hear it is the most complete tour and the views of the bay will be amazing. I leave San Fran Sunday afternoon so I have plenty of time to see the sealion on Pier 39 and perhaps visit the Aquarium. I would like to sample Dim Sum in Chinatown and maybe brave an oyster in one of the famous Oyster bars on Fishermans wharf...just one though and chased with a ... read more

So we are up and running! This is my first post in my travel blog and although i have just over 2 months until my dream holiday, I thought it about time to post some holiday countdown posts. I have booked my ticket to go and see Penn & Teller in Vegas, I really cant wait. I also booked my Alcatraz ticket, I will be going on the night tour as i hear it is the most complete and the night time views of the bay are going to make great photo opportunites. It is all coming together quite quickly if I'm honest. I remember booking it and it seemed so far away that I had quite a relaxed attitude to it. Now im excited and also a bit scared by it all. This will be ... read more

Today we headed up north to Licolnshire to visit family. 40 minutes into our travel Daniel realised he left his wallet (with 100 pounds) back at Hastings. So after ringing the owner we had to head back. Finally reached outer London to visit Eileen's Uncle and then onto Lincolnshire to stay with another Uncle and Aunty. More details in the 'Private' entry. Going to use private entries now for photos and names of family. Welcome to Sunny Scunny!! We've now been in England for just over a week, and it was time to surprise Mischa's Nana on her 80th birthday with our arrival.....but it wasn't all as planned!! So, Monday 1st December is Mischa's nana's birthday, so the plan the night before was to go up with Jeff and Lara and Cam to celebrate and surprise her all in one go, but when we woke up the morning we were going to leave, we woke to icy roads, closed motorways and not much chance of making it up in the car. We were still planning on going and staying for a few nights though, so we managed to find a way using the trains, only changing trains twice. It was also a lot quicker than normal, so we headed off ... read more

We decided to visit Lincoln on Saturday, 2 October. Mark had bought the advanced railway tickets and we caught the 8:10 express train from King's Cross. We transferred to the local train at Newark, and it brought us to Lincoln at 10:30. We didn't have the map but followed the crowds whom we believe would go to the same direction as us. Then, High Street came into our sight at the corner of St Mary Church. Following the High Street, we reached the High Bridge, the timber-framed building on the left hand and the waterside on the right hand. We walked past the Stonebow, the 15th century arch, and continued walking northwards. While walking uphill on Steep Hill, we found a number of charming timber-framed houses and brick buildings with oriel windows, e.g. Cardinal's Hat, the ... read more

Wednesday 4th August 2010 Well this morning Tom started off at 5.30am with Martin for a bicycle ride. Overcast when they set out and raining halfway way. They came back soaked but happy big boys. At 8.30am we headed off and paid for the scooter and then headed North. Went to Scarborough. A beach side town, with life guard and rescue boards cold water and very flat and calm waters ,quite large and full of summer time holiday makers. Had a walk around the town and the beachfront, bought some some walking shoes and socks each, and Gaye bought three thermal under shirts, then had afternoon tea, scones and jam in a little café overlooking the ocean. Very pretty. Took some photos. Headed out about 5pm to the West and camped at a place called Allerston. ... read more
