Hey everyone! Last weekend we went to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath. We went through a newer tour company, and since it's down season, we were the only people on the tour, which was cool. We had our own personal coach, plus our own tour guide and photographer, Tish. She gave us tons of advise on non-tourist stuff to see in London, which was really nice. I worked 45 hours this week, and I just have to say that it really takes a certain kind of person to enjoy working in retail, and I'm definitly not that person. I get home somedays and realize that I havn't sat down since I woke up. I've had quite a few errands to run during my lunch breaks, so by the time I get home, I've been on my ... read more

Classes started Monday. I sat in on geography just to see what it was like, even though I wasn't signed up for it - it was really interesting. Computer Science has been so far, both interesting and easy. I've learned much more advanced things, but the things we are learning I don't know. Art is postponed for two weeks - it is normally taught by two different professors, and the one who does the first half has breast cancer, so can't be with us this semester. The man who does the second half is doing both, but he can't be here until two weeks in. History is completely miserable. The lectures are interesting enough, but the guy that teaches it seems to enjoy winding people up, so he irritates me a lot. I solved this problem ... read more

Hi Guys, I know it has been a ages since I wrote but I have been VERY busy with travel and my new job. Let start at the beginning...NYE and xmas. NYE was spent under the London Eye watching lots of Fireworks with three good friends and a bit of drinking to keep us warm. We had a great night and followed it up with a street parade through London the next day. There was 12 of us for xmas lunch/dinner at Tania/Carlos/Jesse's place. I was pretty sick with a fever but nontheless I cooked 2 roast chickens, veggie bake and choc cherry rum balls to accompany the turkey, mince pies, ice cream, Portugese cakes etc. We ate, drank and missed our friends and family too much over the weekend. Oh yeah and I finally got ... read more

Group trip to London where the school put us up in a hostel and let us run wild with touristy things. The hostel experience was... interesting. I survived though, which is all that really matters. :) My longtime friend Tristan met me and drug me around to a bunch of places. We didn't do too many tourist-y things though, because I had boring things I needed to do, such as find UK/US plug converters and a stupid hairbrush. It was most excellent to have a London native find places for me. I'd have wandered around aimlessly for hours, no doubt. We did go to the Tate Modern museum, which was really, really awesome. My favorite part was the turbine hall, which Tristan has informed me changes twice a year. Unilever (yes, the company) sponsors an artist ... read more

Hi all!! I got a job! I went to the first group interview I've ever been to yesterday. There were 40 of us interviewing for 5 spots at a clothing store, and we had to answer really weird questions and do really weird activities, as if we were at camp or something. It was quite the experience and by the time I left, I didn't even know if I wanted one of the jobs considering the weird style of interviewing, but they called this morning and said I can start on Monday. This is not the ideal job since I won't be making very much money, and won't be able to take time off for the first four weeks of training, but I think I'll like the job since I really liked all the people I've ... read more

Hello all! Alyssa and I are doing well in London. We've now got a place of our own, well sort of. We live in a house-share, which is a flat of our own (a room: bed, closet, fridge, desk, tv) and share 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. The place is nice, it's located in western London, in the North Kennsington/Notting Hill area, yeah...just like the movie. It's in a little cottage type house, made of stone, ceramic, roof, and a little fenced in garden, oh...how cute. So now we're in the process of trying to find jobs. It's proven to be a bit difficult this time of year, but we're working hard at it. Yesterday we walked around all afternoon and handed out our CV's (resume) to just about every retail store we could find that ... read more

Hi everyone! Tom and I are staying in tonight since last night was pretty crazy, so I thought it would be nice to start the Blog. We've been in London for a few days now and are pretty well accustomed to how things work around here. The tube system is so simple and efficient. Everything is super expensive, which is the biggest downfall of this city, but so far we're liking it a lot and I think we're going to stay here for the next 2 1/2 months. It's nice being here not on such a strict time limit, like we have been on all of our other trips abroad. We've seen Big Ben and Parliament, walked around the big shopping areas and Piccadilly Square, which is the "Times Square" of London. We also set up ... read more

what a week... and unfortunately mostly not nice :( last thursday jaya and suhi started on their rabies injections (of which we need 3... and have to pay for!) when suhi was going to work she felt so unwell that she had to go back home and her parents had to take her straight to A&E... because she had an allergic reaction to the injection. It was very very bad reaction and it scared the hell out of everyone. Fortunately she only had to stay for one night and she is almost fully recovered now but it does mean that she cannot have any more of those injections obviously. So me and jaya will have to keep an extra close eye out for rabid monkeys and dogs and kick them out of suhi’s way! On the ... read more

Well thats it then, back in Blighty. Cor blimey govnor that holiday went quick. 14 weeks, 8 countries, 14 airports, 40 odd hotels and guesthouses, countless bottles of water (environmentally unsound i know), taxis, tuk tuks, rickshaws, bikes, hundreds of I wonder what that tastes like, hmm sweet. Thousands of photos and look at thats and we are back in the London and the cold, safe and sound. Dubai gave a slight warning of the weather to come as it dipped to around 15 degrees and on a trip out to the desert it got even colder, but it still came as a shock. Overall it was a brilliant experience which we would like to repeat asap.
