I was recently reading a travel article which asked the question, “What are your travel passions?” Well I’m not sure... I haven’t really thought about it!! I’m usually asked, “What is my passion?” to which I am able to confidently reply, “travelling”. But asked to elaborate on this and I’m not really sure how to respond. I love meeting new people, seeing new things, experiencing new cultures, having adventures…simplifying i.e. living out of a back pack with minimal luxuries and no T.V. And I like to think I am on some sort of spiritual journey. But my travel passions? Gosh... I don’t really know. The article then elaborated, “Think about your three most recent trips. What activities were common to all three? What are the things you seek out when you travel, the experiences that really ... read more

At work, I open the window to hear the piano play, and then, sometimes, I can watch a run. Sometimes, the dance moves are slow. so slow and small that you can see the breathing body before the start of the dance. the movement before the dance and that non move is pure vocabulary, the vocabulary, the non move, a concentrated thought building to a small physical bodily shake, loaded with energy, moving gently but with power into the first very small slow move. In this instant, all time stops and the room whirls around the small shake in that body that we all watch. It's really beautiful. and then I remember why I am here. ... read more

So our final stop on this One European Summer was back to Amsterdam, but this time with Furby in toe. We dropped Furby in the middle of the city as he was keen to get out of Jonesy for a while and head to a backpackers. Between you and me though I'm pretty sure he just wanted free range of the coffee shops and red light district... oh well whilst in Rome! Suz and I went back to the camp site that we had stayed in previously just on the North edge of town. We hung around for a few days mainly hitting the coffee shops with Furby and getting our daily feed of Febo. Not a lot of culture happened over these last few days. However we did manage to catch up with my 'third ... read more

Alright, so international flights overnight are terrible...that's a given I think. I got a little sleep despite the crying babies, and the flight attendants who wake you up to ask if you want an airline meal. I had a great seat neighbor who is originally from Pakistan, but getting her pHd from U of A in nutrition. Super nice! My flight was delayed because of that wicked storm, so I hope that everyone back home is OK! I'm sure my condo is missing even more siding now! Here's hoping it will be fixed by the time I get home! My first night in London was fun! After getting picked up at the airport by Heather (who patiently waited for me over 2 hours - thanks!) I got an"oyster pass" for the metro, and we took the ... read more

Woke up pretty late today!.Ashley and Al had plans to go play Squash with another couple at 11, so they had to leave around 10 and wanted to make a big breakfast before. Hang overs always seem to get in the way of these kinda plans. Luckily it wasnt their faults for plans to be cancelled today. Lol i went downstairs in abit of a rush to see them still in their pajamas, and I was shocked. I thought they slept in for sure after last night. But no it was the other people who cancelled! Very good for me cause I was at fault for sleeping in. So we, or rather Ash made a huge breakfast of French Toast with strawberries, and Canadian maple syrup and real coffee for once!! Tasty tasty, then I did ... read more

Woke up bright and early from a great sleep at 830. Had a small bowl of cereal after getting dressed and waited for Alan to be ready. Ash didn't really want to go to the match because she had planned this bbq, and wanted to make sure everything was prepared for guests, so I was really lucky to have the opportunity to come watch some cricket. It was drizzling outside and I wasn't too keen on wearing my only pair of pants to get wet in the seats if they weren't covered. I asked Al, hey do you think I should wear shorts so I can have these jeans for later? He looks at me like im a woman and says I don't know!! So we took off for the pitch and met up with Al's ... read more

Today I woke up had a shower and went downstairs to see if they had any free breaky. NOPE not even close. So I packed up my stuff and headed down by the water to make my bus for 1230. I thought I would have tonsa time but no. As you might of guessed I was keeping to my usual habits and was near not even making the damn thing. I was pretty hungry and my stomach was a bit worried to say the least. I had absolutely no time to get anything and it wasnt like there was a good convient cafe of anything either. More like 24 hour fish and chips places. The weather wasn't too great today. First day in awhile it was overcast. Made it to the bus with plenty of seconds ... read more

Just a few photos of Mr Jones (our home for the next 6 months). A few of the features of the old boy: - has a third battery under the driver seat which runs all of the lights and accessories in the van - has an outdoor shower (only cold water unfortunately) but will be good to wash the feet off - but we do have a solar shower which we hang from the roof (outside) and can sit on a camping chair under to wash ourselves when we cant find a roadside stop that has a shower for us - there is a switch to isolate the stereo from the accessories so you dont waste the battery whilst using the stereo and being stationery - Also the stereo has an ipod connection for our newly ... read more

Okay so we have made a couple of slight adjustments to the schedule towards the end of May/ start of June. A bit off the cuff and random, but we have decided to fly to Istanbul, Turkey for around 5 days. a) we really want to see the city/country, b) we are actually going to be there during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, so we have bought 3 day tickets to that as well. WOOOHOOO!! we can't wait for that! Also just wanted to let yas know that the schedule after Oktoberfest is still very much up in the air. In that we aren't exactly sure when we will be in Thailand, and don't know exactly when we will be back in Brissie! (but it will be sometime in November). So dont go buying any flights ... read more
