Okay guys here it is...... With only 12 days until we head off into the sunset, things are starting to get rather exciting. Especially now that we have all but completely organised the trip, booked a few things along the way, and bought all of the essentials...... and non essentials, including a bottle of Bundaberg Rum (compliments of Loz!). All thats left to do now is fix Jonesy's gear lever!!!!!! Yes thats right, we havent even driven a single kilometre yet and Jonesy is already off the road. But don't worry, I was able to pull him apart, all to find a small piece of plastic had snapped off the lever, and order a replacement part from France. In fact, I ordered two, just in case it happens again. The gear lever breakage was thanks to ... read more

Hey again peeps....& welcome to an information overload blog from my fantastic 3 weeks in London - please enjoy ;-) My 3 weeks in London has simply flown by, literally! & typing up this blog, upon reflection, I have done more than I realised. It's true what they say: Time flies when you having fun! This fun often included braving the cold weather to be in some sort of physical condition to run the half 2 Oceans race in April. My 1st day here, after settling in, I decided to do a quick 45 minute run. Not heeding Reven (my best mates advice/tip) I got lost & ended up running 1hr 45mins - lol ;-) But since then I generally had 2 routes here. The first route was along the infamous river Thames, crossing the river ... read more

As many of you round the world have probably heard (as no doubt the BBC have kept this particular weather update so close to home bubbling away for all to ‘ooh’ and ‘arrrrh’ at for as long as possible) England has been hit by a freak Russian snowstorm. I tell you no lies; the last couple of days have been absolutely hilarious. One of my favourite comedians, Michael McIntyre I’m sure is having a field day working on new material after London received a healthy dollop of ten inches of powder white snow on Sunday night. Consequently this was too much for us fair-weathered Poms to handle and the city shut down. Think I’m joking? I told you, I tell no lies. The public transport system decided to call it quits and packed up and went ... read more

The worst snow fall in 18 years...some reports say the worst since 1964. FANTASTIC. The weekend started with a lovely walk around Richmond, past the palace, along the riverbank, through the park, tea at Pembroke Lodge and back through the delightful shops of a very upmarket town. Hmm, Brendon, any chance we can move here? Yesterday (Sunday) Brendon and I wrapped up in our extra warm running Skins (thanks Santa), our woolly hats and (for me) gloves - and set off for a jog to Battersea Park & the Thames. The only people outside were completely rugged up and looking distinctly miserable - or, like us, had on extremely sexy, Waaaaarm Skins. On our way back to Clapham beautiful soft white flakes started spiralling around out. Floating down so lightly I thought they would never reach ... read more

Thought I'd set this up to give me something to do if the trip gets boring, plus give you lot something to laugh at should things not go as expected. Hopefully I'll update it often enough to keep you interested without going overboard. These things tend to get real old real fast with me so don't expect any Shantaram-esque musings. The plan (without having a plan) is to make it from London to Adelaide without flying. Not really that difficult I think except for the last jump to Oz from wherever.....haven't figured out how to do that yet. There are freight ships that have rooms available but these need to be booked well in advance, I'm not sticking to a schedule so will have to rule this out. I'll be leaving London on March 4th. First ... read more

Bonfire Night in London. For those who don't know Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night celebrates the Gunpowder Plot. Its name is given to the conspiracy to blow up the Houses of Parliament on 5 November 1605, which was discovered the night before. The plot centred around five conspirators, Robert Catesby, Thomas Winter, Thomas Percy, John Wright and Guy (or Guido) Fawkes, later joined by Robert Keyes, who determined to blow up of the House of Lords in 1605. The detonation was to take place on State Opening day, when the King, Lords and Commons would all be present in the Lords Chamber. There is no doubt that Fawkes, though remembered wrongly as the principal conspirator, was in fact a minor cog in the wheel. It is still the custom for Britain on, or around, 5th ... read more

Oddly enough there are several thoughts coursing through my mind... Like, for instance, do some people really have such full and happy lives that when other interesting and pleasant (what a bland word), scratch that, instead, do random interactions, pleasurable or otherwise, really fall by the wayside amongst the vibrant and turmultuous ride that is their normal life? So many crossed paths, forked roads, risks observed, taken or ignored, blows cushioned, glances and smiles shared, moments passed but where is the recognition? Does there need to be recognition? Where is the meaning? Or why should there be meaning? And when should you stand up and wave and say 'hi, I want to come along for the ride too'? How do you become part of that ride? Or if you do that, would that create immeasurable problems/challenges ... read more
