I'm told there is this thing called culture shock, but thankfully I have yet to encounter it...I think because the powers that be have decided my time traveling shall be a relaxing, easy going, wonderful time in my life..I wonder from time to time what the future holds for me, it can't always be this good, truly...Whatever happens, I'm just so thankful for the moment, the right now...it's all we have and I intend to enjoy it, come what may... So Indonesia rocked. It really did...it was begus sekali...so good. I ended up extending my visa for a week and spending more time in Bali with the friends that were left and the new friends we made there...my last few days were spent much like the first, lounging, surfing, eating cheap and amazing food, taking 14 ... read more

Hi everyone, we have now pretty much finished the third leg of our tour with our return to London. From Berlin, we zoomed straight across the industrialised north of Europe stopping for some well earned R & R in Amsterdam. We chilled out wandering the canals for a few days taking in the Rijksmuseum, while soaking up the atmosphere of the Red Light district and bingeing on street servings of fries doused in mayonnaise :-) We stayed at one of our more unique camping ground stops, which was quite central, but resembled more of a university quad and student union buildings than a camping ground. Thankfully with our trusty van we managed to avoid having to pitch up in with the hundreds of tents crammed onto the site for the summer holiday break. Having reached Amsterdam ... read more

Although the weather in London has stayed closer to an Australian winter (ie I was still wearing jeans and long sleeves) than summer, I am finally starting to feel a bit summery (thanks to a couple of days of nice weather). I then had a truly inspired idea (if I do say so myself). Why not adopt the Australian tradition of Christmas in July (whereby you have the full on cooked roast dinner and wear a santa hat (or suit for those who wish) in the temperature to which it is more suited and without sweltering to death) with a difference? Yep - I hosted an 'Aussie' Christmas in July, with a seafood BBQ for lunch rather than Christmas roast. I hoped that by the time the designated day arrived, the weather would be warm enough ... read more

Well I think I have finally got this sorted so that I can get started on this blog to keep you all up to date on our trip so far. What can I say about a long haul flight apart from that they are a pain that one has to endure to get to this side of the world. But what is it about me that people want to frisk me at airports!! Twice - at Brisbane and Dubai!! Do I look like a bomb suspect?? Are those extra rolls around my middle rather suspicious?? Singapore was hot, pristine and orderly and a very expensive place to have drink - $82 for two drinks apiece at Raffles and $75 a bottle of Lake Chalice at a riverside restaurant. Dubai airport is a shambles - no airbridge ... read more

End of the beginning Good evening friends, old & new, welcome to my Blog. Most of you know by now that I have decided to migrate our shores, in search of an adventure in Asia. After some time thinking about my future hear in the UK, I just felt that the quality of life in London is not so good, compared with places that I have come across in my travels. Therefore I have decided to have a little time out, traveling across India. After which I will then decide on settling somewhere in Asia, to possibly teach English, as I now have a TEFL certificate under my belt, or unless anything else exciting comes up, like starting up a Logic music production school or helping out with charity. Only time will tell what will happen. ... read more

Well if February was the month of birthdays, with 1-3 birthday parties each weekend, then March was the month of missing touch. What do I mean? Well, let me explain. Anyone who knows us over here knows that the most important event in our weekly calendar occurs from 11am-1pm every Saturday. It’s the touch rugby tournament in Tooting Common. We leave home at 10.30 and cycle, walk or jog to the Common in time to hand over a pound and select our team from the 40-75 people who turn up. Generally the better players tend to arrive a bit earlier, so it pays to be on time if you want to be in a decent team. We then play four 30 minute games with no subs and no half time. Two hours of running around in ... read more

There was me thinking I was going to be queuing for hours. Thrown out of embassy after embassy, refused access to countries because I had made a slight mistake in form filling in (or - let's be honest, it's more likely - one of the boys had). The most difficult part of getting visas so far came when I was cycling home, and had to cycle up by Battersea police station, you know, past the Latchmere Leisure centre, up THAT hill. After two days in which I had cycled in the region of 20 miles a day, in Central London, getting to the top of that beast was no mean feat. Unlike visa applications, which, having never done before, I thought would be an exercise in disappointment. Far from it - for both Chinese and Russian ... read more

I have it on good authority (i.e., my dad) that a Fed-Ex package has arrived for me today from Moscow. Now, barring the possibility that the KGB are recruiting (I've already told them no, but they ARE tenacious), those will be my tickets and my Russian Tourist invitations........ Causes for celebration, combined with the fact I've booked myself some travel inoculations for a week (Yes, I will spend St Patrick's day in post-vaccination bum-injection pain - though Wales having won the 2008 6 Nations, nay, the Grand Slam, will help in no small part I am sure), AND I have received an email informing me that I'm now the proud recipient of an Australian Working Holiday Subclass 417 Visa, and I have just started my last week of work............ it's all coming together in a way ... read more

So here we go, about to plow into the planning hardcore. We (me, Rob, Len) have to get at least 5 visas apiece, and a ticket to Moscow, and proof that we are going to leave Thailand within a month of getting there. Except we don't know yet when we will be getting there! Ah well, if it comes to it we can arrange all this when we get to Beijing. We also need winter clothes for our day in Moscow, phrasebooks for China, walking shoes, sleeping bags for the trains, food equipment..... I need to cancel my Orange contract and figure out what to do with my car. Book a ticket from Singapore to Oz, find out out Scuba Instructor courses, and try to work out if that;s really what I want to do with ... read more

Hi all, Well I have officially landed in London and so far the past two weeks since I landed has been extreemly hectic! Between strategically organising my time to fit in Recruitment agents, Interviews for jobs and looking for a home, I've managed to meet with friends I havnt seen in years and catch up with all the goss... oh and off course throw Australia Day into the mix and life has been close to chaos! however incredibly I managed to wrap it all up in two weeks!!!!... which everyone seems to think is record timing!!!...talk about keen! ...or perhaps more accurately, the word broke comes to mind! So as promised this blog is a little about my new life in the uk and of course my new contact info. First and foremost I must thank ... read more
