Friday. There's a short ferry crossing this morning as we head to Geiranger, we arrived just as it was loading, good timing again. Then a short drive to the Ornevegen (Eagles Way), a super spectacular 7km section of road that drops down through 11 hairpin bends giving impressive views of the narrow fjord which is a UNESCO world heritage site.There is a viewing platform halfway down where we parked and took some photos, we're lucky this morning as the sun is shinning. The views along the fjord are amazing and nestled at one end is Geiranger, complete with another cruise liner, a German one this time and slightly smaller then yesterday's. This morning we had a later start with bags out by 7:45 and on the road by 8:45 after a similar breakfast buffet as the previous day. On one of our first stops to stretch our legs, we were told that this might be a good place to get some Leftsa. It was just what Sharyn was looking for and it was very good. Then we were on our way, but not before 2 people came running up to us from an Insight Tour and had found out we were from Minnesota. They said they were from BRRRmidji. It was a brief exchange because we had to get on the road, but fun nonetheless. Well what can I say.... words do not express the scenery in Norway. If ever you get chance to come, you must visit the fjords!!! Having now spent 2 weeks on the road, my travel itinery was as follows. I left England on the 12th May 2007 after spending several days in the lake district. This was to check the van out in good old blighty to make sure she was not going to cause trouble straight away. She is, however, performing superbly. Fingers crossed she will make it all the way to the artic circle and beyond. The ferry crossing from Newcastle to Stavanger was so calm I could have been on a boat in the Carribean rather than in the North Sea. Hallo! Ich schick euch noch mal einpaar Grüsse aus Norwegen, bevor das ganze hier leider bald vorbei ist. Die letzten Wochen waren nicht sehr ereignisreich, wir hatten hauptsächlich Vorlesungen und wenig Exkursionen und andere spannende Dinge. Außerdem halten sich auch die Wochenend-Trips eher in Grenzen. Es regnet jetzt eigentlich schon seit 1 Monat durch, mal etwas mehr mal etwas weniger. An kalten Tagen ist’s dann Schnee aber bis jetzt kann der sich hier im Tal nicht halten. Wie ihr seht also nicht gerade einladendes Wetter um großartig in den Bergen rum zu turnen. Aber einpaar coole Sachen gibt’s dann noch zu berichten. Vor 3 Wochen war Anne noch mal hier und wir haben die ganze Woche zusammen mit Rune und Ragnhild in ihren Hütten gewohnt. Ok, wie ihr bestimmt schon richtig am Titel erkannt habt, gibt es leider auch diese Woche keine Fotos, aber nächste Woche. Versprochen, weil Exkusion!!! Also, letzte Woche kann ich eigentlich nicht von irgendwas spektakulärem berichten. Montags hatten wir Sediment core interpretation. Vorher mussten wir aber noch alle Kurse evaluieren und konnten uns so richtig austoben mit unserem Lob und unserem Tadel. Denke das da wirklich was bei rumgekommen ist! Ja, haben uns dann also mit unserem Lehrer zusammen gesetzt und der hat uns dann auf einige Interessante Sachen in unseren Sedimentproben und Analysen hingewiesen. Leider haben mich an dem Tag die Kopfschmerzen geplagt und deswegen bin ich nach der Vorlesung, die zu Glück schon um 12 Uhr zu Ende war, wieder ins Bett gestolpert!
