Sun, turquoise blue sea, scenic vistas, luscious food, nice people, ruins, hiking trails, and a laid back atmosphere - what's not to like in the Greek Islands. During the past two weeks we revisited some of our favorite islands in the Cyclades. The photos speak for themselves. We flew to Krakow on Friday and arrived in the little alpine town of Zakopane in the Tatra National Forest yesterday afternoon. Hope the rain stops SOON!... read more

We were lucky enough to be invited to a family wedding in Mykonos in June with my daughter and two nieces getting the esteemed role of bridesmaid. 7 of us flew out with EasyJet at 7.30 on a Friday from Luton, which felt painful being up at two but in reality meant we were arrived and unpacked by 2 pm, ready to enjoy the rest of the day. My husband, 21 year old daughter and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment at Secret Spot Mykonos, about a minutes walk from where my brother and sister in law were staying at Mykonos Secret Spot! Owned by a sister and brother the traditional Greek dwellings were joined up by a communal garden and small pool (the kids said it felt like the Love Island garden!) It was ... read more

I arrived early in the morning when none of the shops were open yet. Stepping out of the bus I was so excited! Everything looked sooo beautiful! It was just like in the movies and all the travel magazines I've read. Walking along the pathways next to the cliff facing the ocean I had to stop a few times to take in everything. What a lovely morning with clear blue sky, the peaceful Aegean sea, the Cycladic architecture; and to have that all to myself. I felt like I was in a movie. Lost in Santorini. I literally was except without the cameras. It was still winter but it wasn't so bad. It's just like spring in Korea, about 12C. I was having problems locating my hotel even with Google Maps. There were three other hotels ... read more

Imerovigli, Santorini, Greece Trust me, the view’s not half bad, though I failed to take a decent picture of it. In my defence the caldera, from my viewpoint 1000 feet up, was too awesome to be truly ‘captured’. I had the same problem with the Grand Canyon. Neither I nor my camera were up to the task. In fact, in one sense, the manageress of Anastasis Apartments has one of the easiest jobs in the world. Every time a new guest arrives she checks them in and leads them to the rear of the hotel which is on the cliff top and, with a gentle wave of her hand, indicates the horizon. It’s stunning. I witnessed the performance several times. The manageress stands quietly by while the guests take the sight in. Some people gasp an ... read more

So excited for today. I’ve been looking at pictures of Santorini for months but I’ve learned there’s a whole other dimension to a place in person. I left the hotel at 6:15AM and walked the one block to the metro. It was a different feeling down there at that time of day. There were no crowds, no hordes of people like the last couple of days. Just a few people here and there and I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb. My anxiety started to creep in and I had to mentally give myself a pep talk. ‘I‘m fine, I will be fine, and I’m on my way to a ferry that will deliver me to Santorini.‘ It’s the best thing about traveling on my own, pushing myself out of my comfort level ... read more

It was another fabulous day in Santorini! The sun was shining, the wind was blowing and the temperature was in the mid 70's again. What more could you ask for. Of course our day began with a breakfast of waffle, crepe with fresh strawberries, coffee and hot tea. You need your nourishment here since going anywhere involves walking up hills and lots of them. Other than buses, the primary modes of transportation are ATV's and motorcycles. Pedestrians have limited sidewalks so often are sharing the road with these vehicles so you need to always be aware. Our destination this morning was Perissa Beach. We walked to the central bus station from which all the buses depart for different areas of Santorini, It's amazing no one gets run over there. There are numerous buses there coming and ... read more
