Ok, so this is now the third time I've typed this, as it keeps deleting what I type. The flight to Milan from Madrid was a disaster. From the zig zagging on the tarmac before we even took off, to the bad pressure in the cabin, to the turbulence, to the fact that they didn't even apologise for being over an hour late, we were mightly sick of easyJet when we got off. Once in Milan, now an hour late, we lost any chance of getting a bench to sleep on, as we had a 7 hour layover until our flight to Athens in the morning. The one bench that was left was uncomfortable. I wasn't going to sleep, but kept nodding off, and Alex and Chez, who were intending to sleep, didn't get much more ... read more

Although 'blue' is not my official color (they are cardinal and gold), but the quaint Santorini is only best described as 'beautiful' and 'blue', and I have to admit that I even like it. I haven't seen anything bluer than the Mediterranian Sea water, which contrasting the white-washed churches and houses here. Donkey is the main transportation up the hill from our cruise ship to Fira, somewhat the center of Santorini. But we mainly spent our day in Oia, which is quiter and better, in my opinion. Off we go, back to our cruise ship. -Cy... read more

Photos of Fira, the main town in Santorini. I loved Fira and was staying in a villa just outside the town. Some people have written that Fira is overly commercial, sure it is commercial but no more so realistically, than Queenstown in NZ. Santorini is a tourist island, as Queenstown is a tourist town. Get over it! And enjoy everything else it has to offer. There is nothing like sitting back in a comfy chair sipping an ice cold drink with cruisy sounds playing in the background as you take in the wonderful view of the amazing caldera. Fira also has some wonderful churches to photograph, great narrow pathways to walk along exploring and lots of food stands where you can get good gyros (which I lived on, along with the grapes)! It also has some ... read more

Hey all Told you we would write again soon. We have had another busy day. Last night we went out for dinner with the Aussie couple and their daughter. We went to a restaurant where they were holding a greek wedding while waiting for our table we were invited to join the celebrations that were going on. The red wine started flowing and the father of the groom welcomed us all into the party (family). We met the groom and bride and watched on as the dancing took place all around us it was certainly a very special time. When we sat down to order our meal the father of the groom came over and told us that he was paying for everything (our meal, our drinks the lot). This was hospitality that we had never ... read more

The last 3 days have been spent in Santorini. Our hotel is beautiful. We can see the sunset from our 4 post bed and get served breakfast to our balcony every morning. I guess you could say we are living it up before we get to Contiki. We hired a quad bike and have been crusing the hills of Santorini. Yesterday we drove to Kamari Beach then Red Beach. Only just made it to a servo after driving for about 30 minutes with the petrol light flashing! Last night we drove around town and had dinner with some traditional Greek Music. Today we had a late start and then jumped back on our bike and headed for Perissa Beach. We ended up at the Taj Mahal Club on Perivolos Beach. We had sun beds with cushions ... read more

The next day I went for a walk through the streets and look at all the shops and the donkeys making their way through the steep winding hills as they made their way up the stairs... Sarah thought that there was an overwhelming smell of pepper, turned out to be donkey pepper!! Awesome view, awful smell!! Next day woke up and it was cloudy, after Arty told me that it’s NEVER cloudy in Santorini!! What’s going on there?!?!?! Had brekkie (with cake at the end!! Love holidays!!) and then to Maria to have the obligatory frappe who is just adorable and works so hard for 8 months of the year, 7 days a week!! Then off to the beach, so caught the bus to Perissa which has black sand and smooth rocks and the nice man ... read more

Hi All!!! Well the start of the next adventure had finally arrived!! I hadn’t been excited in the slightest in the lead up to the trip as work has been twice as hectic as usual!! Mum took me to the airport and we had some lunch then it was finally time to go to boarding and my gate was half way to China, or at least it felt like it anyways! The minute I boarded the plane I knew that it was going to be all bad, there was absolutely no in-flight entertainment - I was sooooo cursing Thai Airways and my travel agent!!! (Just jokes Roh!) So I decided that there was only one thing to do ‘Make sleeping tablets my friend!!!’ I read awhile and finally fell asleep and woke up a few hours ... read more

Santorini is a postcard maker's wet dream. Everywhere you go you want to snap a new round of photos. The sunset itself attracts hundreds if not thousands of people to the town of Oia every night. Couples hold hands and sneak kisses. Families sit down to the dinner table overlooking the steep cliffs and the barnacle like houses that cling to it. I didn't know whether to watch the actual sun dropping into the ocean or to turn around and watch the canvas of white houses turn various shades of gorgeous as the light washed over them. So what does a single man do in such a romantic setting? The answer: He takes a lot of photos and then hits the bars immediately upon hearing the enraptured masses round of applause. Ideally, he meets some Spanish ... read more
