Vakti, denize girerek geçirdik ve tam yarımda her zamanki mas... read more

We set off for the village of Kolympia to explore the large hotel complex and water park that we saw in the distance from the Tsambika Monastery yesterday morning. We pass a sign to a beach with a very Russian sounding name. I'm sure this same beach had a more Greek sounding name when we passed it yesterday. I tell Issy that we should be prepared for Lindos to have been renamed to Lindosgrad by the time we get back there this afternoon. The hotel complex doesn't look quite so significant from the ground, and is really several different smaller hotel complexes. Even the water park looks quite small. We drive along the road behind the beach past the customary forest of beach umbrellas and sun lounges. We reach a dead end, so we turn around ... read more

Issy's not hungry so I go to breakfast on my own. An older English couple comes in to the restaurant. The man is wearing sandals, beach shorts, a blue shirt and a tie. It looks like he dressed his top half thinking that he was going to work, and then remembered that he was on holiday. We've decided that we'll spend the first half of the day sightseeing, and the second half lying on the beach. Issy seems a bit more relaxed about us driving than she was a couple of days ago. Because they drive on the right hand side of the road in Greece, just about everything in the car is opposite to what we're used to. The driver's seat is on the left, and the indicator is on the left of the steering ... read more

It will be difficult to write about the second half of our trip to Rodos as we are now in Turkey and already fell in love with the place. But our time in Rodos was so unbelievable and fun that I have to say a few more things about it. Last time I wrote, I think we were in Monolithos, a quiet but super friendly place. Our host, Gorgios looked like yet another Greek god. Not to mention how kind and welcoming he was to us. He served us a memorable breakfast including delicious, fresh Greek yogurt and honey, and local bread so good that we asked to take the leftovers with us. Gorgios also helped us with our flat tire. Actually,, to meet local people (especially Greek gods), I highly recommend a flat tire. From ... read more

Day 5 We wake early, now that we are caught up on some needed sleep, head to breakfast, and then make our way to Old Town Rhodos via taxi. The taxi driver is very nice and recommends that he drop us off at the top of the hill and we make our way down the hill through town. Old Town Rhodos is a pedestrian only town with no cars allowed inside the walls. The town is surrounded by ancient stone walls for protection. The architecture is very medieval however the majority of the town is filled with souvenir shops and restaurants. We walked in a large circle from the top of the hill, down through the city, around the outside wall, and ended up exactly where we started. The water is such an amazing mix of ... read more

Day 4 Our driver picks us up at the hotel at 8 a.m. We drive 50 mins. back to the airport and I am the only passenger on the flight today. We will meet the other passengers in a few days. Warren and Brian ready the airplane and we set out for Rhodos. The flight takes about 45 mins. I sleep most of the way because my body clock is still not adjusted (bad hangover). In Rhodos we take a taxi 15 mins from the airport to our hotel. We are staying at the Sheraton and all agree that the island feel is more our style. During our ride to the hotel, the road parallels the beach. The water is gorgeous! It is all the shades of the prettiest blues one can imagine. At the hotel ... read more
