June 8th After meting some people I meet last night who I also meet in brussels I got up and went to the free tour of Munic. Munic roughfly translates in to the work monk and we all know who invented modern day beer right!? Monks so this town loves there beer. Its wasted on me as I dont like to drink But I did have some recommended beer. I must admit its easer to drink than the stuff in the states. SO another highlight of the tour was seeing were Hitler formed the Nazi party were he tried to stage a revolution and the square where he's supporters, 13, got shot ( a supporter covered up hitler, got shot 11 times.... did not die buy the way) Saw the glockenspiel, Kinda boring if you ask ... read more

When people talk about 'Cycling the Rhein', this is the section they talk about from Mainz down to Cologne. Just beyond Mainz, the river narrows as it passes through a range of hills, and because of this the current speeds up. I think the story goes, that some bright spark thought, 'Hey, the boats all go slowly here because of the currents, and I need some money, so I'll stop them and tax them for passing through my land". So he built a little castle, and put these bridges out in the river to slow everyone down, and proceeded to collect his tax. All of his neighbours, rather than tell said so and so, to stop being a prat, and let the boats go past for free, thought this was a jolly good idea, and ... read more

My final days in this beautiful country are filled with packing and errands, cleaning and shipping and selling vehicles, taking the cat to the vet, packing some more, cleaning the house and cleaning it again... nothing spectacularly interesting, except that I can't help stealing a few moments here and there to revisit some favorite places and take some photographs to ensure my memories stay clear. I'll miss the scenery, the mountains and forests, the winding rivers. I'll miss the architecture, the endless castles and castle ruins lining the hilltops, and the skillful mix of the very old and the very modern. The little towns you could spend all day walking about, enjoying shops and coffee. I'll miss the Autobahns, the way the Germans drive on the right, pass of the left, and get out of your ... read more

It was great but taking pictures was a bit tricky as the guide liked to move on quick but I got them and hurried to catch up. I saw the jewish holocaust monument the book burning monument russian monuments, the university that Engistine taught at to where michical Jackson hung his baby from a hotel ledge. (The world is still Recovering) Great city, great sites, great food. Hey Everyone Well, I'm in Berlin at the moment, got in this morning. Had a really good flight from Sydney and got to London at 7am yesterday (Friday 13) morning. Once I had found my hotel I went for a really, really long walk. I walked from my hotel all around Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. I saw the memorial fountain for Princess Diana, the Peter Pan statue, I went to the Kings Cross Station and had my photo taken at Platform 9 and 3/4 from Harry Potter, and got a picture of the bridge that Harry and Hagrid walk across in the first movie, I was very excited! Today I left London to come to Berlin. I got here at about lunch time and eventually found my way to the hostel, after having to ask ... read more

Today would be my Mom’s 62nd Birthday, and there is no reason why we shouldn’t celebrate it; it’s what she would have wanted! This year was particularly special for Kelsey and I because we got to visit with my Mom’s family, the Becks (I know, Beck to Stiefvater!), and it was great to connect/reconnect with them as it was Kelsey’s first time and I haven’t been since my Mom passed away. We weren’t able to see my Mom’s sister and two sons who live in Austria, but we visited with my Mom’s brother’s family in Behweiler (near Lake Constance, in the very south of Germany), which is where she grew up, actually in the exact same house. It was great to see my Uncle Otto and Aunt Angela and all my cousins. We had a lot ... read more

June 9 the day pervious I spent 50 Euro on a tour of German cassels. It was a great tour the cassels were amazing and of the 2 cassels I saw the last one is the cassel walt Disney used as inspiration for his Cinderella cassel. you know the one at the center of all the parks. It was amazing to go there and see. But as far as a tour people my own age go on, they were all older or married. But I meet a very nice older couple who was even kind enough to buy my meal! witch was very nice considering that I locked my money belt in my locker the night before and fo got to put it on in the morning. so I had 35 euro to get me though ... read more

I arrived in Frankfurt today around noon local time. The flight took much longer than expected because of a long delay before takeoff, but I got here in one piece, so all will be forgiven. Air India was the company I flew, and that is an interesting story. A good 80% of the plane was Indian and just going to Frankfurt as the connecting airport on their way to Banglor. The other 20% were German who were returning home from business/pleasure in America. I’m not positive on this one, but I do believe I was the only true American on the plane (although some Indian people on the plane lived in America). I had some interesting conversations with some Indian and German people on the plane, but it was generally uncomfortable for 10 hours or so ... read more

Ah, what a day! We were all fairly tired this morning, probably due to the time zone differences. We were all up by 4:00 am our time - which is 7:00 pm back home. There’s a 9 hour difference all in all, which can be very confusing at times! We all slept for quite a while, about 12 or so hours, but even still we were pretty exhausted. Eventually we all rolled out of the somewhat-comfortable beds and got ready for breakfast. The breakfast here is free of charge, which is great - they have all sorts of things that we’ve never seen before, but I myself was not adventurous enough to try much of it. Dad was, however, more than willing to devour whatever they had out on the counter! There were weird things such ... read more
