Woke up at our usual time and explored the city a bit. After contemplating a bit I realized that one of us had to have a camera so I purchased a new one similar to my previous one for like 275 euro. Met with josh at around 8:30 that night and decided to head out to a club called atomic cafe. We all chatted with a few german girls and the club was decent but everyone was a bit burnt out so we headed home to crash relatively early.... read more

The Munchies in Munchen.. Thats what we have dubbed ourselves, myself, Dan, Brad and Cal.. Go the Munchies in munchen! I was the first to arrive, followed by Dan and while we waited for the boys to arrive we took a city sightseeing tour bus.. Always good, always provides lots of interesting sights to go back too.. After picking Brad and Cal up at the train station with extremely cute little signs (which you better still both have btw!) and a German greeting we walked down to Marianplatz.. the main part of town here, beer halls everywhere with masks (not steins!), Cal had one and we later found out he was drinking apple juice! Go apple juice though!! The two hour train trip out of Neuschwanstein castle provided an extremely long, uphill walk to get to ... read more

our initial plan was to go to heidelberg for 2 nights after belgium and then move onto munich for 4 nights. we felt that we needed some stretch days in our schedule, so we cut heidelberg out and didn't bother planning set days for the rest of our trip until the time came. we had some scheduling conflicts in belgium when we began trying to find places to stay in munich, so we used one of our stretch days in köln (cologne), a city we would have to change trains in anyways to get to munich. when we arrived in köln, we had been on a train for 2 hours. when we came out of the train station, we were at the foot of the kölner dom, a 13th-century cathedral in the middle of the city. ... read more

Arrived in Munich in the afternoon and explored this great town. It was very busy and the streets were filled with beer tables, pork sausages and more beer! I've never see so much beer in my lifeeeeeee!! The town was filled with friendly and happy drunks, lots of dancing and lots of laughter. That night we checked into our hotel and I loved it~ big beds, big pillows and heaps of room for me to dance around. After a quick rest we were off to the famous BEER HALL! A few minutes after sitting down we were given these STEINS of BEER!! They were heavy and hold about 1lt of beer~ haha I only have one photo of this experience... kinda got drunk... and the rest is history. Next stop... Austria Tyrol ... read more

I left after class and caught the train to meet Katie. We had planned on meeting up before she left to go back to the States. When I arrived, I found my hostel, checked in, dropped my bag off in my room, and with the help of the map the hostel gave me, I made my way to the Old Town. The Old Town is a pedestrian only zone, lined with shops and beautiful buildings. I spent a couple of hours walking around taking pictures, before finding something for dinner, visiting an email cafe, and then making my way back to the hostel. I ended up hanging out with the only other girl in our 12 bed hostel room, playing cards. The next morning, I woke up early to meet Katie and Moli at the train ... read more

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and took a metro out to our camping spot on the river. After setting up our spot we went in seach of a Supermarket to try some awesome German sausage but came back with marinated pork. Sunday as always meant a sleep -in. Following breakfast and a keen ambition on my part to make it to a beer garden I said to Neetz come on we better explore this city. Without letting Neetz know of my only intention (to make it to a beer garden) (neetz here...as if I didn't know tezz's intention of going to the beer garden, he pretty much dragged me there quietly not saying anything but "nah lets go this way") we strolled past some places and took about 5 photos. From there the truth came ... read more

Well, if you haven't heard the news yet, I am on the move again! This time I have landed a job in Munich, Germany. I will be teaching 2nd grade at an international school there. I was hired back in February at an international teaching conference, sponsered by ISS, that was held here in S.F. After an evening of attending conferences, informational meetings, a mad scramble to sign up for interviews, landed me 10 interviews literally all over the world for the following two days. In one day I interviewed with schools in Colombia, China, Moscow, Libya, Tanzania, Mexico, Bulgaria, a few more I have now forgotten, and of course Germany! I ecstatically accepted the job in Munich and I have since jumped into the mad dash to the finish, not only of my 1/2 ... read more

Before I comment on the Palace, which was one of the main reasons for the stop in Munich, i think i need to talk a bit about Germany. Upon leaving i was VERY impressed! The people were always kind, and always helpful. They had a police presence that made me feel secure, even after a few oddly large sized beers at a beer garden. Speaking of beer, Munchens... love their beer and pretzels. Ashley and I had a shocking experience with the traditional bavarian food, I dont know if this is right to say but it was very simular to Jewish food... For example: I ordered a bread dumpling soup, which was oddly like Matzah ball soup and Ashleys Chicken sat along side a potato pancake. I guess it was on our minds since we ... read more
