hey guys. i am waiting for emily to get off the phone so i thought i would update realy quick again. the hostel we are staying in is very nice...its not much of a hostel...we have our own bathroom and downcomforters and down pillows. Ahh, its very nice! we are sleeping in a room with 6 other people. its an interesting mix. there were 2 guys from london in the room last night who were nice. we chatted with them for a bit which was entertaining because of the accents, but everyone was so tired that we soon passed out. they told us about a 'mad' man that was staying in the room that talked in his sleep. he is an interesting one. this morning i showered and got ready, the only thing left that i ... read more

hey guys. first off, this is going to be very hard to type because i do not know how to capitalize things, the z is in the y place and vice versa and i dont know how to use the apostrophe on this keyboard. anyways, prague was amazing, like i have already said. a few of my favorite things were the charles bridge where you had an amazing view of the city. emily and i walked across it at night and the view of the city was amazing. some of the buildings made me feel like i was in a fairytale picturebook. i took some pics and i will put them up when im back in avila. the communist museum was pretty interesting. its crazy to me that just about 16 years ago they were a ... read more

Hello.. both of us here.. quickly posting an update from munich. Got here from Salzburg an hr ago. Salzburg is a really cute, small, pedestrian town, and like Anand said, we did everything we had planned in plenty of time. Highlights included the hohensalzburg fortress from which we had a great view of the alps, mirabell gardens doe a deer, the gazebo from SoM 16 going on 17, the mozart homes, and a visit to the local gurdwara where we got some great elaichi chai and had another good chat with interesting folk. ... read more

hello all. we are packing up and getting ready to head out to dresden germany tomorrow and the next day to prague in the czech republic. we had a blast this weekend with andrew and took a little trip a couple of hours on the train to nuremberg and toured where nazi rallies were held and hitler's speeches delivered. it was incredible to watch little children play where such a fierce rally was held. we were back in munich last night and enjoyed an authentic italian dinner that had the bonus of being cheap. and the night would not have been complete without the phenomenal street performer playing the accordian. folks, we never thought we would enjoy the sound of accordian but we couldn't stop listening to this man play. (sorry if i'm spelling that wrong). ... read more

it is amazing how much you can appreciate a nice hot shower. we set out from paris thursday night on a train around 10:45p.m. bound for munich (munchen as is properly spelt) to meet up with andrew. there were about 20 minutes of pure anxiety as we awaited to see if the little cabin with two rows of three chairs (because we are too cheap to buy sleeper cabins) would be all our own for the sprawling out and hopefully a few hours sleep. just about to fall asleep, they come by to check our tickets and although at first annoyed with their timing, we were soon very grateful as we were notified we were on the wrong half of the train. evidently the train would be disconnecting and going two different places and the nice ... read more

I took a group of 42 people on an EF Tours trip to Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. It was wonderful! Among friends were Loren & Jane, Daniel, Lisa, Bobby & Helen, Nina, Kathy, Mona, and the family. Most of the studets who traveled with me were Jersey Village Students. Our tour director's name was Till. He was an excellent guide and got along really well with all of the students as well as the adults. Anyway, one of my favorite cities in Germany was Munich. It was very cold and we arrived right in the middle of a snow storm. ... read more

I Flew into Munich from Melbourne after 2, 2 hour stopovers in Malaysia and Amsterdam. Stayed at Euro Youth Hostel which is about a 2 minute walk from the main trainstation. Munich was covered in snow, wasnt as cold as i thought it would be but....still cold. Every night in munich was spent drinkin with 2 irish lads, 2 canadian lads, and another aussie and some other randoms that would come join in.. would begin our drinkin at the beer halls, where we would have quite a few steins (1L glasses of beer) and some german food. then eventually make our way back to the hostel where the beers were cheaper and have few more there... then we'd wonder out to some bars or somewhere to drink, one place we went to had 30 clubs in ... read more

So, really my train started out from Salzburg for me, but i was in Munich for awhile, so that i why I put down that I was there...because that counts for me!!! Hahaha...So, after basically a day of waiting. I got on the train and it was probably the nicest train I have been on thus far. I sat in the same area with another person. It was a young man. He lives in Munich and was taking the train home because he works in Linz, Austria. Pretty cool. The nice thing about our seats, was the outlets, so i was able to charge my iPod and camera batteries. We were only on the train for about two hours. Then i arrived in Munich. However, I had about 3 hours before my train left at midnight ... read more

We went to Munich last weekend after Hadrian's Villa. The ground was covered in snow as they'd just had a big snow storm. It made everything gorgeous. We took the train through the Austrian Alps and that was quite beautiful as well. Upon arrival we made our way to Wombat's City Hostel, which is apparently famous as hostels go. After arriving we took the front desk guys advice and walked to a nearby Bavarian restaurant where the food was awesome as was the beer. They served Augustiner which is a Munich brewed beer and an apparent symbol of the city. We then made our way to the bar district to drink a few more and catch a little jazz show before bedtime. You wouldn't think sitting on a train for ten hours would tire you out ... read more

We took a train to Munich from Rome. It took about 10 hours but it was well worth it. Our train was sold out and jammed packed full of people trying to get to small ski towns that are in the Italian Alps. Once we got past the main ones it was smooth sailing from there. Trey and I had a whole cabin to ourselves the rest of the way to Munich, which was trough the Austrian Alps which are some of the most beautiful and fantastic scenery I have ever seen. We talked with a German lady for a while about different things and she told us that there had been 5 feet of snow that had dropped that week in Munich and the mountains and that was the reason there were so many people ... read more
