Day 13 & 14 Arrived: Nice, France Accommodation: Hotel Le Petit Trianon first impression = convenient, nice owners room type = spacious private room shower = private tip = if you're arriving late, call Gone.. Go Trippin' After an all day train ride from Interlaken, we've finally arrived! Our hotel reception was open 24/7 but I would call if you're expecting a late arrival. We called it a night immediately making sure to have energy for tomorrow. The weather was cloudy for most of the day which was a bit of a downer. Nice is nonetheless nice. We walked along the waterfront and happened to stumble upon a mini train- like- trolly tour. It took us up into the hills of Nice which provided one of the best view of the entire city. Nice is great ... read more

So we had to rearrange our schedule a tiny bit because of a booking problem. The overnight train from Paris to Nice was booked solid, so we ended up having to leave a day early on an afternoon train. Which means we arrived a day early in Nice with no place to stay ahh!! The train ride through France was beautiful as usual, much of it was countryside and we finalle started to see some mountains. We arrived in Nice to some pretty beautiful weather. Since we were a day early, we had no place reserved and everything seemed to be booked. We had to go to the internet and search for a hostel and once we found a place with rooms, we booked right there. We walked across the street to the hostel and asked ... read more

After waking up super early, 5 am, busting our butts to Charles de Gaule airport, we miss our flight. Heck we weren't even at the right terminal even though my e-ticket (easyjet) said TERMINAL 2!! Argh, c'est la vie eh? Luckily we got tickets for a 12.35pm flight through Air France for 81€. The snack they gave us was actually very good! Rare I know. Smoked salmon sandwich. They even had extras! The landing was the scariest I've ever had though. Due to crosswinds I'm guessing, the plane landed on just the left wheel, finally tilting so that the right wheel touched. It then proceeded to move left and right, back and forth before the pilot finally slowed the bird down. Everyone was like wtf, pilot brushed it off as saying 'Welcome to Nice" as if ... read more

Our visit to Nice was quite relaxing and enjoyable. The weather was variable, but we managed to get some sun and some quality relaxing time. We'd booked a day tour of the Riviera for our first full day (Tuesday) in Nice as it seemed like a logical thing to do and would allow us to see all the places we planned to see anyway, while leaving us extra time to go back on our own in the following few days if we wanted. Our driver Sylvie picked us up a bit later than the scheduled time, which was a bit annoying but totally understandable. The reason for this is that Nice is currently being torn up and rebuilt in several places. This is in most part due to a new tram line going in, which will ... read more

We left Aix not too early, after having breakfast, and checked out with no real incident. The walk to the train station was pretty short and thankfully it was all downhill, because our cases were just full of souvenirs and extra clothes that Sam bought in Paris. Sam was still feeling unwell, so we were glad that at least the sun was out. Because Aix is a little out of the way, we had to catch a train to Marseille-St Charles then connect to the TGV there. The station at Aix was tiny and to get to the platform we had to walk across the actual train track... Totally safe but a bit unusual for us. We only bought 2nd class tickets from Marseille, which was a bad idea, but we'll not make that mistake again.. ... read more

This was one of the most amazing places we visited...it reminded me of the cemeteries in New Orleans. I didn't dare take a photo, but by the entrance there was a monument to the local Jewish people that died in concentration camps during WWII...... read more

This is the first entry...the trip to Nice, in the South o France. I will backtrack later to the other two trips I've taken this year... We were supposed to leave London at 11AM, but EasyJet being EasyJet, we didn’t leave until almost 1PM…got to Nice airport and our friend Sam from Paris was already there waiting for us. Took taxis to our villa. We were not completely sure how far away from the centre of town the villa would be, so we were somewhat expectant. It turned out to be quite a bit out of the way, but in an amazing location! The pool was beautiful and the general atmosphere was just perfect… The bedrooms were large and the living area very nicely done. There was some food in the fridge, so we made ourselves ... read more

Out train trip was two parts. The first was Barcelona to Montpellier, and the second was Montpellier to Nice. Our ride was great, and the 6 hour trip went so fast. It was almost all Americans trading stories about our trips and was one of the best times ive had on the trip. The views were amazing, and as of today, ive taken over 500 photos. The second train, we had to split our american bunch in half cause only half of us had reservations. We actually left first and were supposed to meet the others about 45 minutes later, but they actually beat us. About 10 minutes after we left the station, an elderly women collapsed in the car in front of us. People tried to give her CPR, but she had a massive heart ... read more
