Day 8-10 Gone.. Go Trippin' The last few days of our trip in Vietnam is full of fun times with the family. We were invited to a wedding, celebrated Christmas and New Years! Traditional Vietnamese Wedding We were lucky enough to have a neighbor friend getting married on NYE and cordially invited us to their wedding. If you think you've seen a Vietnamese wedding before, well you ain't seen nothing yet. Festivities may be short but virtually everybody in town is invited. There is live music and karaoke, food and lots of beer. Christmas & Happy New Years Spending Christmas and New Years in Vietnam is an experience that far exceeds your typical celebration in the States. You just have to see it to believe it. It's a joyous occasion and everyone who's anyone is out ... read more

Day 5 Arrived: Ben Tre by private van Gone.. Go Trippin' You can rent private vans to take you to practically anywhere. Ben Tre is about an hour away by bus and Vung Tau is about 2 hours. We had my uncle and cousin take us here to see a different side of Vietnam lifestyle away from the city life. Here is where you can see how the locals make the signature and famous coconut candy by hand. Ben Tre offers variety of tours by boat and land so you can customize your trip. Most are half day tours. Make sure you book a ride down the Mekong river as well. A definite must. Tips If you want to go to Vung Tau, the suggestion is to leave early morning and return end of day. You ... read more

Go Trippin' There is nothing better than family hospitality and in our case, we've got some of the best family, distant or near, around. These next few blogs are going to be short and brief; we'll let the pictures speak for itself. One thing to know about Vietnam is that it is becoming more and more travel friendly and easy to get around. For us, this trip is about time with friends and families and soaking in the culture. Since neither of us were born and bred here, we both have a sense of urgency to reconnect with ... read more

What a deal. We could not believe it that we had to ask the front desk lady twice to make sure we were at the right hotel. We didn't necessarily fit in with our giant backpacks and our laid back wardrobe, but we were assured we were in the right place. We arrived just in ... read more

Go Trippin' After an all day train ride from Interlaken, we've finally arrived! Our hotel reception was open 24/7 but I would call if you're expecting a late arrival. We called it a night immediately making sure to have energy for tomorrow. The weather was cloudy for most of the day which was a bit of a downer. Nice is nonetheless nice. We walked along the waterfront and happened to stumble upon a mini train- like- trolly tour. It took us up into the hills of Nice which provided one of the best view of the entire city.
