We spent two days in Lyon which was mainly spent walking around the shopping areas and fresh food markets. Unfortunately one of our two days was a Sunday, on Sundays everything in France closes, so we really only spent one day there. Yesterday we got the train to Nice which ws a journey in itself! The 4 hr trip took 6 and a half hours because the train had a fault and as we are in the south of france now it is quite hot. We finally arrived at the hostel around 7o'clock and whlst unpacking realised we had left Amandas new purse on the train. Wewent back to the station but they couldn't help us. Nice is very beautiful and has lovely beaches and lots of shops, hopefully i'll find some Camper shoes for a ... read more

hey guys! we are now in barcelona and we are enjoying it here but first we would like to update you on on our stay in the Cote d´ azur which is a coastal area on the mediteranian in the south of france. Nice (pronounced Neece) is a relatively small town in on the coast and this is where we stayed for three nights and traveled from there to neighbouring areas. we stayed at a hostel which was a bit far away from town which was a pain but public transport was relatively good so we managed to survive. on the first day we did some sight seeing and the city is really beautiful! we went and visited the old part of the city which is where the city started and then expanded. the old part ... read more

Lazily woke up at 10am and headed to Italy for lunch. Yep. Drove to Italy for lunch. It's only a half hour from Gio's to the bordertown, Ventimiglia, so we let our trusty Italian tour guide lead the way. Naturally, the food was great and after lunch we went to an Italian outlet mall where I picked up 2 pairs of Italian leather shoes for 60 euro! Amazing. Plus, they threw in a cute pair of flip flops too! On our way to Gio's place in Villefranche sur mer we stopped in Monte Carlo, Monaco to walk along the piers of big boats. We thought there was money in Portofino but its small fortunes compared to Monte Carlo. The boats were insanely large, the stores were of the Gucci and Hermes level, the hotels were stunning ... read more

Leaving Nice to go to Berlin today. Been looking around for an easy way to get to Riga which is where I wanted my next stop to be, but it turned out to be either too expensive, or take too long time (spending time in London waiting for another plane). So I booked a flight to Berlin, plan is to stay there for a few days and then catch a bus back to Sweden. It's been a few days since my last blog, I havn't really done much, just taking it easy here, meeting people at the hostel. Went out with a nice australian couple one of the nights. They had a guidebook mentioning a pub called Jonathan's - just had to go there! After a few other stops and lots of walking around the same ... read more

Hellloooo from Nice, France! So Jenn and I had some difficulties getting here, apparently Nice is popular and all of the trains were full! So we dipped into our emergency funds and payed a little extra for an upgrade to 1st class. I must admit after riding in first class I don't think either one of us are looking forward to returning to 2nd class....where we ultimately belong. In first class nobody talks!! We were whispering the entire time as to not disturb the peace. Anyway we made it and even though Patrick the owner of Hostel Chez Patrick is a little strange the place is very clean and everything worked out well in the end. We both are going to really miss Paris. Our roommates were hilarious (they wrote 4 pages of info for us ... read more

I've been in Nice for almost two days now. The humidity is worse then the heat itself, all in all it's nice (ha...ha) here. I arrived like 21.30 on sunday so I didn't get to do much then. Yesterday I spent at the beach with some people from Australia. I've been seeing lots of australian people here in France. Seems most of them are doing the Busabout thing through europe. We also walked around in the old town with its market and winding streets with little shops all over. At evening I found this little Vietnamese restaurant, I was the only customer and had the full attention of the old man who appeared to own it. Has some very interesting food and a lesson about what it was :) Started with Vietnamese Ravioli, which are some ... read more

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past few days. As of our last update, we were in San Sebastian. We had a blast there and really enjoyed the town there. Unfortunately, the weather was not very aggreeable and therefore we were not able to enjoy the beaches everyone told us about. But we enjoyed our time there nonetheless. After San Sebastian, we took one of the most uncomfortable buses north to Bilbao. This was only a quick stopover because our flight left from there the following morning. While we were there we did see the Guggenheim that Frank Gehry designed. It is a pretty remarkable building to see in person. The following day we left Bilbao and flew to Barcelona. We had such a great time here. We went to La Sagrada Familia the ... read more

This past weekend I went with Lenny, Brian, Meredith, Mike, Dylan and Hunter to southern France. The plan was to catch a train on Friday and ride through the night to Agde, the small town in which the Tour de France was taking place. After much debate, we determined that it would be more cost effective to take a taxi for 5 and a half hours to Nice instead, before heading to Agde. Now that's riding in style! (We still had to take the night train on to Agde, but it was alright.) Had a great time in Agde. Arrived around 6 a.m. and were the second group of people to line up to watch the race. Grabbed a quick breakfast at a nearby cafe and waited for the race to begin, beer in hand. Before ... read more
