Hello everyone! Tuesday, was Dia de los Niños, which is day to celebrate young children (younger than 15 yrs). And of course we had a piñata with lots of candy! Every celebration they have them. Every Tuesday, at my house all of my family comes over which is around 25 people! They sure love their piñatas! School is going good of course and everyday we have been working a big mural project together for next Monday, because it is Costa Ricas Independence Day! Im excited that Im going to be here for a holiday so I can experience how they celebrate holidays and see their parades too. Today, we had a mini lesson on fruits that are special to Costa Rica. We even got to try a bunch of the fruits! And this weekend Im going ... read more

After an amazing couple of months travelling in Nicaragua and Guatemala I headed back to Costa Rica once more before it was time to head home to Oz! Jerry and I had such a fun few weeks. We met in San Jose and headed to Monteverde to meet his best friend Benji, who is studying there. Monteverde is a beautiful, touristy area in the mountains, where there are stunning cloud forrests, canopy tours, wildlife and much cooler climate than that of the coastal parts of Costa Rica. Jerry and I didn't partake in any of the tourist activities, but we had fun discovering the town with Benji and enjoying time together, just the three of us! Benji is such a genuine, fun-loving, confident, full of life, happy guy, so it was nice to spend some time ... read more

Well, since writing my last blog about leaving for Arenal I met a couple of people in the hostel who convinced me to go to Montezuma with them so I had an early night and got up for 5:30am and caught the bus. It was an easy but long journey. Definately worth it though, we had a great adventure in the sleepy town. Treking through the jungle to see the waterfalls, when we finally reached it the rain came down hard. We struggled to make it back as we lost the trail. It was quite dangerous sliding down the banks and landing on the rocks at the bottom next to the river but we came out alive so we were still smiling. Montezuma is just 2 streets on the beach with a very laid back feel ... read more

We've had an amazing last couple of days....we took a boat across from Jaco to Montezuma which is a wikid little town; its tiny...the main street is only about 50 meters and just a beach with a few restaurants and bars (what else do you need though?!) On tuesday we went on a horse riding trip which was amazing!! we jumped on our horses on the beach and rode along the beaches and into the jungle for about an hour and a half, also got to gallop across one of the beaches which was incredible! after the couple of mile trek we tied up the horses in the shade and went for a swim in a small rock pool under a waterfall (as if it wasn't perfect enough already!) After a refreshing swim and some fresh ... read more

Arriving in Costa Rica always feels like returning home. My 11th time was not much different. I arrived late from Honduras and Jorge picked me up. After, a crazy night of drinking I headed to Montezuma. Spent two weeks here in Montezuma just hanging out and sleeping, reading, and of course a little bit of partying. I got to hang out with Sasha and Molly. We had a great time visiting Santa Theresa and Tambor and just hanging out. Super cool people. Thanks guys for the great time! It was such a pleasure to meet you l look forward to hanging out in the future. For Christina's bday we headed to a Hilton all inclusive resort in Costa and had a great time. It was $60.00 a night and that included a pimping room, all you ... read more

After the bonk on the head I spent a few days recovering and watching the Heather show. I passed the time on the shore with all the other surf honeys - taking pictures, making hemp necklaces, and working on my tan...regular surf honey sort of stuff. After two days of chilling out, we took off to conquer the southern Nicoya Peninsula for a few days. We first made our way to Montezuma - got in some good hikes, hung out on some awesome secluded beaches, and had a great snorkelling adventure. After Montezuma we made our way to Cabuya, a small little hamlet next to the Cabo Blanco Wildlife Refuge. We got up early in the a.m. and tackled the hike into the reserve - a 12k trek by the end of the day. There was ... read more

Francais en bas So when I left you, we were in San Jose and I wasn´t especially impressed with Costa Rica so far- I guess it´s fair to say that cities and me don´t really go together. But I have now officially fallen in love with Costa Rica... We left San Jose on Saturday- we took a taxi to the bus terminal and I managed to not scream at the driver when he went through 2 red lights and nearly ran over a guy crossing the road, call that brilliant self control on my part! We got on a DIRECT bus to Montezuma, on the Nicoya peninsula, and 3 hours later we were off the bus to take the ferry to cross the gulf. It was a really lovely ride with great views and A LOT ... read more

Life is beautiful... Here are some updated pics of life in Montezuma! Steph and I are just loving living here. At the moment Codi, Steph's best friend from home, is also living with us for a month or so (love you girl), we are also living with 2 guys, Lucas and Jerry. We recently moved into a new pad right by the beach, it is so NICE. Clean, with aircon, TV, a balcony, beach view... and clean... the whole clean factor was a big one for Steph and I after living in the ghetto (there are pics of the old place on here at the start of this page. it looks ok but trust me it wasn't... a shower that was a pipe that jutted out of the wall, and only cold water, which when it ... read more
