I met Karen and two of her sisters in Puerto Viejo Costa Rica. I had been there before and tried to tell them a place to meet me, hoping it was still there after three years. It didn't end up being a problem as the town is super small and I saw them getting off the bus. It was so great to see Karen and be traveling with her once again. It was also great to meet and hang out with her sisters. All four of us had a blast, painting all the towns some lovely shades of red! We stayed two days in Puerto Viejo, hanging on the beach and playing in the waves and just taking in Costa Rica. From there we went to Cahuita where a pool was high on our priorities. ... read more

After going through the panama canal we cruised north to the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. We were only there for three days unfortunately because it was a really beautiful place I would love to go back to one day. The first day we arrived at Los Suenos for a night and then left the next morning for a small village called Tambor. So happy I got a day off here and made the most of it. Four of us decided to do a Quad bike tour which was fantastic! We went through the country which was alot drier than I expected, maybe because of the time of year. There were still palm trees dotted throughout dry fields, and lots of cows too. Then we went along the beach for awhile which was beautiful, good ... read more

... read more

Hey all, Sorry been out of touch for a while. Internet is expensive and slow here, and i guess you were getting sick of sunset photos at Santa Teresa. So on to a different place - Montezuma! Ali and tripped there for a day from Santa Teresa last week just for something different, and we had heard the waterfalls there were incredible. Montezuma is a funky little town only about 1.5hrs from Santa Teresa so we hitched a ride with a good kiwi friend most of the way (on the back of his flatbed truck getting mouthfuls of dirt) then were lucky enough to meet a local Montezuma guy called randall on the bus the rest of the way. I say this was lucky because we met him at the waterfalls later (which are a nice ... read more

Here some friends and I found a comfortable wooden dormitory with a nice breeze and only some protection from the strongest deluge I've ever seen, with water to the knees in the streets, quickly draining into the sea, echoless and forgotten by the next morning.... read more

After a few days of unpleasantness of varying degrees of seriousness (some of which I will relate here, other parts will go with us to the grave unless they become amusing in the far future), we are now in another paradise. The hotel Amor de Mar in Montezuma to be exact. We travelled by bus and police pickup truck and taxi and ferry and bus and mini bus from La Fortuna to Montezuma on what we found out was the Saturday of a three day weekend in Costa Rica. It was Labor Day weekend and everyone had Monday off, so lots of people were travelling. We got into Montezuma after dark, tired and hungry. Every bar and restaurant seemed to be playing different music, loudly. After a horrible dinner of was supposed to be fish in ... read more
