Geo: -35.281, 149.149Well guess what, we went to the Zoo and saw all sorts of animals including a Giraffe, it cost $70 for the both us to get in, thanks to Mick having his Seniors card. It was so expensive to do close encounters which I would have loved. $170 to cuddle up to a White Lion or to pat a Tiger it was $60 for each of us. We decided to take a walk and see them for ourselves. The White Lions were all asleep, but saw plenty of Monkey's and Meerkat's. The Sun Bear was as high as he could get on a pedestal and was not happy, just kept pacing.A Tiger was also pacing and another one was asleep, which was the case with all the other animals except the Giraffe, which was in ... read more

Geo: -35.281, 149.149Another beautiful day in the land of Aus. and we set off for the Bus Depot Market on the Kingston Foreshore. Two floors just full of stalls, food, drinks and plants down stairs and up stairs was a mixture of everything from scarves, jewellery, leather goods and art. Some beautiful stuff but really expensive, I liked a bag and when I looked at the price it stayed there, $850 was just a bit more then I had to spend. Stunning Art pieces in acrylic which were 3D, the woman just layers and layers until she gets the effect she wants. We had lunch of pancakes, mixed berries, ice-cream, cream and chocolate hot fudge, needless to say the diet is not working very well at all, but it was yummie. We then walked to the Canberra Glassworks, next ... read more

Geo: -35.281, 149.149Had a great day after getting the washing done early this morning we set off for the Questacon, The National Science and Technology Centre. So much to see and do, we started with Perception Deception, which showed how the brain can play tricks on you, illusions which could trick your senses, incredible.Wonderworks - Science to move your mind - we were amongst a lot of families as well, it was a playground for all ages.We then visited a show called Dino - Science where it was explained the origins of dinosaurs, how they evolved and how they are still finding new ones, even in Australia. The next Gallery was Awesome Earth and the power and beauty of our planet. You could feel the force of an earthquake, let lightning spark your imagination and wonder at ... read more

Geo: -35.281, 149.149We slept in until 9am which is unusual for us, a bit windy but the sun is shinning and we are ready for another day. Set off at 10.30am for the National Portrait Gallery.Wonderful portraits of the famous Australian's like Dame Nelly Melba, The White Mouse - Nancy Wake, Gough Whitlam and heaps of others. The In the Flesh exhibition was clever, charming and in some instances confronting. Very well done. The High Court was a short walk from this and we had a good look around it, what a massive place and would be quite daunting for a lay person to be in court there, like the Kerrigans from The Castle. The Art Gallery was another short walk across a bridge and we saw some remarkeable work, Ramingining artists The Aboriginal Memorial 1987-88,Claude Monet Meules, ... read more

Geo: -35.3544, 149.232Arrived at the Park around 11am and by 1230 we were set up, on blocks in the park, the area is so uneven we needed to get more wood blocks to sit the Jockey wheel on and the front legs of the van. The Park is on the Queanbeyan Weir which is quite a pretty place but so uneven it was a challange to level the van. We then went to the shopping centre for lunch which is 100mts away, quite handy with most of the main shops available and within walking distance from the Park.We then left for Black Mountain Tower which was only 15 minutes away. The view from 870mtr above sea level was amazing and we were able to see the full 360o, worth the ride in the elevator, would not ... read more

Geo: -36.2403, 149.11Went to Mt Gladstone Lookout just above Cooma with commanding views of the Monaro out to the Snowy Mountains, cannot believe the beauty of the scenery here and we could see for miles, quiet amazing. On our way down the mountain we stopped at Heidi's Tea Rooms, very quaint and set in a really pretty spot. We had Earl Tea and home made apple strudel, Heidi who runs the business with her son said it was her Mother in Laws recipe from Austria. Wow it was nice and Mick thought it was worth the trouble he would have later on, being Fructose intolerant. We then visited the Snowy Hydro Centre, the scheme started in 1949 and the clever engineering and size of the project was mind boggling with 7 dams being used today, amazing ... read more

Geo: -36.2501, 149.078Took the Monaro Highway and two half hours later arrived in Cooma, not a bad road and some beautiful scenery. Coming into Cooma we were struck by the beauty of the place sitting in a bowl surrounded by Mountains. After setting up we went for a drive and saw historical homes and churches, the homes were well preserved and had a lot of character. We have not had any TV, which has been good but got the better of us, so since our intenna has given up the ghost we bought another intenna and once again we found an op shop where Mick bought clothes and I found some knitting books. We then went to Billy Goat Lookout, which over looked Cooma and it was worth the look. Stayed at Snowy Mountains Tourist Park. ... read more

Geo: -37.7167, 148.1 Arrived in Nowa Nowa, found the Caravan Park Mick booked. Very ordinary and no one around so decided to book into Mingling Waters across the highway. Beautiful spot right on the river with free caravan parking available on the river, did not have our rods but is evidently a good fishing spot. $30 clean amenities and we were right next to the camp kitchen. Tea was fresh oysters and prawns from Lakes Entrance, the best prawns we have ever had. Night fall and we went to bed with the rain on the roof, lovely. ... read more

Geo: -37.6541, 145.516Trevor and Robyn up early and showered before Mick and I had, we had a cuppa with them before getting ourselves organised to go to the Sanctuary. It had rained during the night and looked like it was going to be a wet day so we set off for the Sanctuary with our brolly, called at the shopping centre for food for tonights tea and Mick needed a slab for later today. Handy having the Engle in the back of the ute so after packing the food we arrived at the Sanctuary around 10am. Early with only a few people around, the lady who sold us our tickets said 'we will have the park to ourselves by the look of it'. Mick was able to use his Seniors card for a discount and I still ... read more

Geo: -37.6541, 145.516Left Cobram in pouring rain, both drenched so pulled the Caravan up outside the park and both of us changed out of wet clothes before continuing on to Healsville. I had put a wet weather jacket on and could not get it off, the zip would not work so eventually Mick found a pair of scissors and cut it, so that I could get the damn thing off. It has now gone to god! Mick could not help himself and thought it was a great joke.Saw a patch of sunshine as we drove through Shepparton, it has grown so much over the last 30 years, had lunch in Yea and filled up with fuel before continuing on to Healesville. The road trip was good and we arrived in Healesville at 1300, with plenty of ... read more
