Geo: -35.1099, 147.371We left the Caravan Park at 10am, after breakfast and saw the Funeral Parlour, who were very helpful in giving us a plan of the cemetery and copied information from the Wagga Wagga & District Family History Society Inc. telling us to write a letter to them and see if they can find information for us, as to where Mary Jane O'Connor is buried. We then visited the Salvation Army Op Shop, buying a couple of tops, becoming the thing we do in each place we visit. Went for a drive around Wagga Wagga, big place with some beautiful old buildings. Had lunch in the shopping centre and came back to the park. Unfortunately everything worth seeing is closed on Monday's, Art Gallery with a collection of National Art Glass and the Museum of the ... read more

Geo: -35.1099, 147.371Left Wyalla at 9.45am, called into the Tamira Aviation Museum. They had the last flying Spitfire Jet in Australia, fully restored. The Temora Aviation Museum provides a tribute to the men and women who served here during World War 11 and displays for them, their families and future generations, the history of 10 EFTS together with Australia's most comprehensive collection of historical aircraft maintained in flying condition.Out side there was a competition on, between model jets, WOW!! could they move, a rich mans hobby, some costing as much as a house and others as much as a good car. If they crash the pieces are picked up, chucked and they build another, it was enthraling to watch. An hour later we were back on the track. We then arrived in Wagga Wagga at 1pm, beautiful ... read more

Geo: -33.9235, 147.205Left Dubbo at 7.30am, arrived in Parkes at 9am to have a look at the dish. CSIRO'S Parkes Telesscope the official name, is 64-m in diameter parabolic dish used for radio astronomy. It was huge. The telescope was built in 1961. But only it's basic structure has remained unchanged. With continual upgrades the telescope is ten thousand times more sensitive than when commissioned in 1961.The moving part of the telescope, above the concrete tower, weighs 1000 tonnes-more than two Boeing 747s.The telescope only receives signals from space, never sends them.Mick can remember his Mum and Dad taking the family to see the Dish, he was 10 years old. (50 years ago!!) He remembered two dishes, one a quarter the size, nothing else, just a big wire fence. He was surprised to see that he was ... read more

Geo: -32.243, 148.605Did very little today and it was exhausting. We went to the Salvation Army Op Shop and Mick bought two more shirts, I picked up a couple of socks, then we went to the RSL, what a place it was huge. It did have some really good memorabilia from the different wars and some great photo's which told a story themselves. They had three eating areas, pokies which there would have been 250, big areas for the TAB, an Alfresco area which itself had close to 50 pokies, Mick had a smoke there then we had lunch. Members price was $10 for crumbed fish or battered. Mick had Roast Pork and I had crumbed fish, huge meal for $16.50 each. Members Draw is $10,500, they have on Thursday's, Friday is another Members Draw and Sunday's ... read more

Geo: -32.243, 148.605Arrived at the Zoo to get tickets for the Giraffe Encounter, sold out already for the morning and we were there at 8.15am. Managed to get tickets for the 2.20pm session this afternoon. Our Wild Africa Encounter is at 10.45am, so we left and went into town to give the guy at Auto Spares back his tool, he lent Mick to put the glow plugs into the ute. Mick is very pleased with the ute, it started straight away and has not given us an ounce of trouble. Getting 12L per 100 km, ( an olden but a good one). We did some shopping then came back to the caravan until 10.15am, then went back to the Zoo, the beginning of a wonderful experience. I took 82 photo's of the beautiful animals, they have ... read more

Geo: -31.2734, 149.277Left Tamworth at 9am and arrived in Coonabarabran at 11.30am. There were long streches of sweeping plains, growing wheat and canola. Then we had big streches of the Warrunbungle Ranges to cross through, the different landscapes were lovely, but I felt tired when we arrived in Coonabarabran, had spent most of the time with my foot flat to the floor, so we rested for a while after setting up in the Caravan Park. Nice shady quite park, clean and pretty laid back, suits us fine.Mick has been having trouble starting the ute and needs new glow plugs for it, so rang Dubbo, Mitsubishi, to see if they could put them in tomorrow for us. They will be $102 each and he needs a set of four, but they did not have any in stock, ... read more

Geo: -31.0915, 150.931First thing this morning I did washing, we had breakfast then visited the information. Centre, right next door to the Park.Outside was a song writers Tribute, The Country Music Association of Australia pays tribute to, around 27 song writers. Smokey and Dot Dawson, had a stone to themselves, one very revered couple in Tamworth. Others were Brian Young, Owen Blundell, Arthur Blanch, and many others. We then spoke to Cindy a lovely lady who advised us to take a drive to Nundle 54 km from Tamworth. We then did a tour of Walk a Country Mile, well worth $4.50, with a Seniors discount. Thanks to Mick they see his card and figure I'm there as well. It was the story of Country Music which was done very well. Then we hit the op shop. ... read more

Geo: -31.0897, 150.927Last night we caught the curtousy bus from the park to Diggers Country Club, had tea in Smokey's Cafe and a play on the doggies and keno. The curtousy bus then picked us up to bring us back to the park at 9.45pm. Big night, the venue had big screens showing the football and rugby, Mick usually barracks for the Stormers but last night the crowd were definitely followers of Newcastle, he was not game enough to say anything. They were pretty vocal, so we stayed quite. We had breakfast this morning and around 10am went to the Tamworth Festival of Woodwork & Woodturning. Very clever the work put into the items on display, some for sale. A nice jewelery box I liked, would have cost me $400. Needless to say I did not ... read more

Geo: -31.0905, 150.929Left Belmont at 9am, heading for Scone in the Hunter Valley. Could not believe how dry it was.At Branxton all different second hand cars and utes, about 20, lined up in front of each other, including an old Morrie for sale.Passing through Singleton Heights the same, another lot of cars for sale. No markets which I would be interested in, just cars. After passing through Singleton we saw huge pits that are being mined for Black Coal. We had seen a number of carts hauled by trains heading for NewcastleRavens wood underground mine, bigger than the Latrobe Valley. Bayswater Power Station.Had lunch in Scone, the horse capital of Australia, then after a half hour break, decided to move on to Tamworth, only 129km to go,.
