Tomorrow we will be on a platform where we will be able to pat these guys. Geo: -32.243, 148.605
Left Coonabarrabran, 7.30am on our way to Dubbo, 31o forecast, so will get the trip finished early. Booked into the Big 4 Caravan Park at 9.30am. Set up and realized if we want to see the Zoo tomorrow we need to book to see the Big Cats Encounters, Giraffes in Focus, and Wild Africa Encounter. The Zoo is 2 minutes away, so we drove to it to buy the tickets we will need.
Well there were hundreds of cars and people around and at 10.30am the Big Cat Encounter had sold out for today and tomorrow. We have booked the Wild Africa Encounter, for tomorrow and in the morning when they open at 8.30am we will stand in line for tickets to feed and photograph the Giraffes in focus. No luck with the big cats, so far. Our ticket also aloud us to drive around the 6km loop of the Zoo, some had bikes, some were walking, so off we went passing by many rare endangered and native animals. It was great to be able to get out and walk up to take photos when we saw any of them close enough, a beautiful Zoo were the animals roam in
A White Rhino
A big one, not sure why the pink darts were in it, but will find out tomorrow huge enclosures. I did get a photo of a baby White Rhino, only born in May this year. A tiger was sound asleep under the trees and most of the animals were lying down. Getting hot for both them and us. Saw some great animals and managed a few photos.
Watching the Giraffes and I heard Mick say hello Ken and sure enough Ken Leggat, who worked with me at the Yarram Country Club and his wife were there and are doing the same trip we have done, only in reverse. Small world is'nt it, when you can run into someone from home 15,000 away.
Another attraction worth seeing is The Old Dubbo Gail, so we took off to get Mick the glow plugs he needs, then drove into the city to have lunch and came across the sign for the Dubbo Gail. After lunch we visited and Mick has done well with the seniors card, the Zoo saved him $13, and at the Gaol, he saved as well.
It was great with life like animatronics, holograms and to hear the inmates stories and get a realistic and fascinating insight into a bygone era of barbaric prison life. The theatre played the
story of the hangman and the inmates who were sent to their death in the yards of this very prison.
In 1889 the prison built other quarters for women, who were completely separate from the men.
Some managed to escape by shining up the drain pipes and going over the roof.
The last woman to be hung in Australia had come from Dubbo.
Dubbo is huge with lots of things to see and experience so we have decided to stay for three nights. Back at the Van by 2pm ready for a relaxing afternoon.

Good to see that Mick got out of the prison.
