Geo: 18.8, 98.98We left Chiang Mai by road 200 kms away across mountains, valleys and picturesque landscapes. This was a full day trip so we were picked up at 7am and did not get back until 8.30pm. One thing we realised in Thailand was that a day is as long as it takes, no such thing as 9am - 5pm and the workers only get payed a very minimal wage, you could not ask for better attention from the guides we had.We were accompanied today by Les who was on holidays from Sadi Arabia where he works in public relations for the American Army, lovely man who we really enjoyed the company of as we experienced the diversity of Thialand. "He loved the green lush country side compared with the sand pit he works in".The first ... read more

Geo: 18.8, 98.98Woke this morning and during the night water had been running through a light fitting with water all over the floor, in the entrance, we went down to have breakfast and reported this to reception which was fixed by the time we had finished breakfast, now waiting to be picked up at 8.30am for a morning City and Temple Tour. They were amazing Temples in the Old City with the oldest being damaged last year in an earthquake. Three school girls approached us asking if a photo could be taken with us for their English school project, they were lovely and grateful. We then were taken to a Silk Factory which would have to be the highlight of the day it was amazing to see the whole process of getting the silk from the ... read more

Geo: 18.8, 98.98 Packed and were picked up at 10.15am for our flight to Chaing Mai, peak hour is all the time here but we had a good run, taking 20 minutes and our flight was at 1.10pm. The Airport here is three to four times the size of Melbourne just huge. In the airport and walking through the boarding area with half an hour to go I finally saw Swatches which have no metal and I can wear, so bought one for 3400 baht, $132.55 really nice. Mick waiting said we have 10 minutes to board so left and nearly missed the plane the boarding area was far in the distance, we only just made the plane. We booked in to the Dusit Princess Chiang Mai in the heart of the city which is in ... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.521Up for breakfast before meeting BoBo at the Pier and off to Hell Fire Pass. Took the long boat up the river Kwai and after 10 minutes transfered to a Taxi to Hell Fire pass, a look in the Memorial and BoBo me up with us after 3/4 hour. We could only walk through the Hell Fire Pass up to a Anzac Memorial 500mts because the bridges had collapsed. We could see the drill holes for explosions and the museum showed how the holes were drilled called Tap and Turn, the poor POW's holding the steel bolt when the other used a sledge hammer to tap it! But then we were thinking that at every bit of information we were given. How any of them survived is incredible and seeing crosses and Australian Flags ... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.521Day off (kind of) I spoke to the tourist desk at the Hotel about finding the best place to change money, Mick needed to exchange money. I needed to find a Tailor because they do not sell Jeans for Mick here and we wanted a massage. She made a phone call and we were picked up and taken to the bank, I waited in the car while Mick went in, needed his passport and did not come back for ages I was getting concerned. Mick came back and evidently one of the $50 notes he had was a fake so they had to check every note he had and a security guard came up and stood beside him, scary, he was having kittens because they were not happy with the ... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.52123rd September, 2015We left the Hotel this morning at 6.15am heading for the Floating Markets and Rose Gardens. We had a lovely guide Kisman who was very happy and chatted about the culture and what we would experience today. Well it was an eye opener we had a ride in a long boat to get to the Market and from there on we spent time at the Market bartering and buying. The funniest one was when Mick was bailed up by an elderly lady who told him to hold bottles of stuff and shuved them into his hands he could not do anything. She rubbed his temples which will get rid of headac... read more

Geo: 13.7308, 100.52121st September, 2015 Well we finally made it to Bangkok, the Thai airline was great to fly with and the meals were lovely, but after nine and half hours we had definately had enough. The Tour East driver met us at the Airport and took us to the Century Park Hotel, both of us needed a drink so thought we would go for a walk down the street to get some drinks.Straight outside the Hotel a Tuk-Tuk driver was wanting to take us for 40 baht ($2) for a half hour drive and he knew a really nice place for a drink. My radar was up big time but Mick thought it would be great fun so we went. We did not realise the Tuk Tuk do not have any insurance so if anything happened ... read more

Geo: -36.3537, 146.325We arrived at Gundagi for lunch and I took over the driving after we had eaten, interresting place we had two buses of Chinese people before us and after they left a heap of Pakistani's arrived, on there way to the Cricket in Canberra.Driving was no effort on the Hume Highway so when we arrived in Holbrook, we decided we were going well enough so why not keep going to Wangaratta, which we did. Glutons for punishment, stuffed by the time we set up in the Caravan Park and it is 30.3o at 5.30pm, Mick still wants to cook tea and I could not be bothered, a few drinks later and I reckon I will feel better.
