Heidi's Tea Rooms
The girl from Hanberg could not cook so was taught by her Austrian Mother in law. Geo: -36.2403, 149.11
Went to Mt Gladstone Lookout just above Cooma with commanding views of the Monaro out to the Snowy Mountains, cannot believe the beauty of the scenery here and we could see for miles, quiet amazing.
On our way down the mountain we stopped at Heidi's Tea Rooms, very quaint and set in a really pretty spot. We had Earl Tea and home made apple strudel, Heidi who runs the business with her son said it was her Mother in Laws recipe from Austria. Wow it was nice and Mick thought it was worth the trouble he would have later on, being Fructose intolerant.
We then visited the Snowy Hydro Centre, the scheme started in 1949 and the clever engineering and size of the project was mind boggling with 7 dams being used today, amazing the area the scheme covers and how they layed 5000 sq km of pipes, the diameter was big enough to drive a semi through. The information on what dams were pumping water was also incredible, well worth the hour or so we spent there and so much better and cleaner then our Coal in the Latrobe Valley.
Just down the road from the Park there was
The view from Mt. Gladstone Lookout
Just beautiful, just imagine in winter the snow on those mountains a memorial of the wreckage of the Southern Cloud, which had not been found for 20 odd years after it had gone missing.
Filled up with fuel for tomorrows trip to Canberra, bought another chair after Micks shat itself last night. Did washing this morning and dry when we got back thank goodness because it has rained since 3pm and we had 8ml over night.
