This morning we woke to the news that a woman drowned in flash flooding that swept through the caravan park at Buchan yesterday afternoon. The weather was bad in Marlo last night but up in the ranges it was much, much worse. It was terrible to hear news of a fatality not far from where we were. It was much finer this morning, and it was hard to reconcile it with the severity of the weather event that occurred last night. I think out on the coast we caught only the edge of the storm front(s) that swept through yesterday afternoon and evening. We made ourselves a self-catered breakfast which we were able to enjoy on our verandah before re-packing the truck to head north over the Great Dividing Range. Before heading north, though, we drove ... read more

Tuesday 31st March 2015 We left Sale at about 1000 very pleased with the caravan park fees only $17/night for both nights with a power cost of $4.75. This park is well worth stopping at if you are in the area. First stop was Bairnsdale, a couple of hours away, and after a walk down the typical country main street, we went to Maccas for lunch as we are getting rather addicted to their toasted ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches! After this we stopped in at the Information Centre next door and a very helpful lady gave us some ideas of what to see and where to stay. After checking out the old church next door, the only thing worth seeing in the town in her opinion, we went to Cheap Auto Parts over the ... read more

Geo: -36.2403, 149.11Went to Mt Gladstone Lookout just above Cooma with commanding views of the Monaro out to the Snowy Mountains, cannot believe the beauty of the scenery here and we could see for miles, quiet amazing. On our way down the mountain we stopped at Heidi's Tea Rooms, very quaint and set in a really pretty spot. We had Earl Tea and home made apple strudel, Heidi who runs the business with her son said it was her Mother in Laws recipe from Austria. Wow it was nice and Mick thought it was worth the trouble he would have later on, being Fructose intolerant. We then visited the Snowy Hydro Centre, the scheme started in 1949 and the clever engineering and size of the project was mind boggling with 7 dams being used today, amazing ... read more

Geo: -36.2501, 149.078Took the Monaro Highway and two half hours later arrived in Cooma, not a bad road and some beautiful scenery. Coming into Cooma we were struck by the beauty of the place sitting in a bowl surrounded by Mountains. After setting up we went for a drive and saw historical homes and churches, the homes were well preserved and had a lot of character. We have not had any TV, which has been good but got the better of us, so since our intenna has given up the ghost we bought another intenna and once again we found an op shop where Mick bought clothes and I found some knitting books. We then went to Billy Goat Lookout, which over looked Cooma and it was worth the look. Stayed at Snowy Mountains Tourist Park. ... read more

We left Tocomwal, heading north but the pull of the mountains made us do a U turn and, once back at Tocomwal, we turned to drive towards the mountains along the Murray River Highway. There were all types of orchards each side of the highway, we stopped and bought a box full of plums, peaches, nectarines, and apples. Pears and grapes are also grown there, it's a fertile valley. We had the night in a favourite little caravan park in Colac Colac (pronounced Clack Clack) where the grass is green, there's a little creek running through and it's quiet. There was a lot of burning off in the mountains which resulted in a fair bit of smoke as we climbed up but the air cleared the higher we got. Our poor little motor home was working ... read more

Kopanje nam ni disalo, ceprav se je vreme izboljsalo. Popeljale smo se ob morju proti jugu: Moruya, Bodalla, Narooma do Tilbe-Tilbe, kjer smo si privoscile kosilo in si ogledale historično vas potisnjeno ob hrib, nekaj kilometrov v notranjosti. Sredi pasnikov in nizkega gricevja do vrha popasenega z redkim drevjem.
