Brain overload! That's how I feel after a day touring the Battlefields at Gettysburg. We got up early to take Karlie to daycare and then headed to the battlefields. They had a lot to offer in the way of tours and we chose to go on the bus tour of the battlefields and then take the shuttle over to President Eisenhower & Mamie's home afterward. The battlefield tour lasted 2 1/2 hours and the guide was a walking textbook. It was amazing to listen to him tell about the battles and points of interest. It was as if you were actually in battle. Now as most of you know I am not a history buff, but it is hard not to get wrapped up in all the history and emotion of what happened there. Needlesss to ... read more

Hey there everyone! We are still hanging out in here in Pennsylvania trying to figure out what there is to see and do. Yesterday we went to the town of Hershey where the BIG Hershey chocolate factory is. It is very interesting how they advertise it as "free" but once you get there you find out that they charge you for everything that you want to do except for breathe. We were able to take this little Disney type ride that explains the process of how the candy is made and of course it dumps you off in the gift shop. It was fun to see all of the candy that they make and of course we spent our money on buying candy for us and t-shirts for the boys instead of going to amusment type ... read more

Don't panic we are fine it was just not a very good travel day. I started out sad to leave the RV Park in Medina, OH. For some reason I really liked that place and didn't want to leave. We got out of there around 9:30 and headed to Harrisburg, PA which was about a 335 mile drive. This was a long day for us since we have only been driving about 200 to 250 miles each time we travel. We decided to travel on the Interstate since we had a lot of miles to go and wanted to get there at a decent hour. We hadn't been driving the Interstates since we left Montana! Well Sister I can tell you now why we don't like to drive the Interstates. We hit road construction after road ... read more

Yesterday we dropped Karlie off at Doggie Day Camp again, (she just loves it!) and headed to Canton for the NFL Hall of Fame. It didn't disappoint. Too bad that we weren't there last weekend when they enshrined the class of 2010. Who knows maybe we could have met Emmitt Smith or Jerry Rice? Anyhoo, seeing as I am a diehard Miami Dolphins fan, I was in my element. You will notice that most of the pictures are of the Dolphins. (yeah Storm!) Sorry to those of you who don't like them but hey, I had control of the camera so too bad. (HA!) Seriously, I loved the dolphins when I was a little kid in grade school. Back when Griese was Quarterback and they had Csonka, Warfield, and Kiick. They were a dominating force and ... read more

After taking a day off from travel and sightseeing we got up early today and took Karlie to doggy day camp so that we could spend a leisurely day in Cleveland seeing the sights and not having to worry about her in the heat. The drive to Cleveland from our campground was very easy and we found the city to be very easy to manuever around in as well. The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame was our main destination and we were not disappointed. It is a very hoppin' loud place as you can imagine with lots going on. They were having a Les Paul tribute weekend when we happened to be there and so they had a trailer of Les Paul Gibson guitars out front to see. Craig, we thought of you and how much you ... read more

We left Elkhart, IN yesterday after an eventful night. We were just hanging out, I was actually doing the previous blog and Don was watching TV, and all of a sudden we heard a very loud POP! We lost our TV but the lights and computer stayed on. Well it didn't take long to figure out that the park had lost it's power and a transformer had blown. Everyone was running around trying to figure out what to do and firing up their generators. It was about 9:30pm when this happened and at about 10:30 we were told that the power would most likely be out for the night. Well I have told you how humid and sticky it has been so you can imagine how we felt. Thank God we can run at least one ... read more

Greetings from Amish Country! We arrived here on Sunday after stopping at another DDD's in Rockland, MI. Rosie's Diner was the place and let me tell you that it was nothing special. It was kind of dirty and the food was mediocre at best. We even ate something that Guy had on the show and it was still only mediocre. Guess sometimes we just can't agree with the Master. We are staying at Eby's Campground in Bristol, IN which is just outside of Elkhart. It is very wooded and secluded and when we arrived Sunday it was packed but they all left that evening and it has been quiet since. Yesterday we went to the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart and that was very anticlimactic. They do have a lot of old RV's, tents, and ... read more

Well we were blessed with another great day. We went to downtown Traverse City because we wanted to see the sights down there and also check out a little place called House of Doggs. They serve all kinds of hotdogs and it sounds kind of funky and fun. Downtown Traverse City is very old and has a lot of shops and restaurants. They do a really good job restoring all of these towns and making them friendly and fun to hang out in. The House of Doggs was really good if you like hot dogs. They had many different combinations already made up or you could make your own. I had an R&B dog (mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut, pickles, & chili) and Don had Country dog (chili, mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles). They both were very good. Too ... read more

So today we took a drive along M-22 which meanders around beautiful Lake Michigan. It passes through a few little towns and is lined with houses on both sides of the road. There are some spectacular ones and then some that I think we could afford. Either way, it was very scenic and beautiful. It is hard to believe that everything freezes up here in the winter. We stopped in the little town of Suttons Bay and walked around some of the shops. We bought a couple of sandwiches at a deli as it was getting close to the noon hour and then we drove a little way up the road to a park to have lunch. It was nice and peaceful watching the blue water eating our yummy sandwiches. We then traveled through cherry orchards ... read more

So today I had to break down and clean house. YUK! We have been playing around for more than a month and so I thought it was time for a deep cleaning. Yesterday we went to Mackinaw Island. I really wasn't sure what to expect. Was it an old boring Fort or just a tourist trap of shops. Well, it really is a little of both but it is such a quaint and charming place that you can't help but be fascinated by it. You take a short 20 min. ferry ride (from the St. Ignace side) over to the island and it takes you back in time. There are no motorized vehicles on the island at all as you will witness from the pictures. You can rent bikes or you can take one of the ... read more
