Hey y'all! We arrived in Hilton Head, SC on Saturday the 31st. We stayed at Hilton Head Harbor Resort and Marina. It was rated a top 10 resort in the Trailer Life Directory and was also Big Rig friendly. It was a very nice park but with a 45' rig it was a little tight in places but we managed. It is an "owner site" park, which means that the sites are actually owned by individuals and so each site is different. They gave us a golf cart to drive around and pick out the site that we wanted. There were a lot of trees in this park so we picked one out that we thought would work for our satellite. It was a little warm after setting up so we turned on 3 of our ... read more

While we are staying here in Foley, AL we decided that we weren't too far from Pensacola so we decided to drive down there to see the Naval Museum. It was about a 45 minute drive from here. It was nice and scenic traveling down the coast. It rained most of the night and most of the day so it was a very dreary day. There weren't any people out on the beaches but when we got to the museum we found out where they all had gone! The parking lot was packed. The museum is very spread out so it didn't feel like it was full. It is a very interesting place with plenty to see. I guess the Blue Angels fly on Mondays and Tuesdays and some Wednesdays weather permitting. Too bad we couldn't ... read more

We had a travel day today. Went through three states (Louisiana, Mississippi, & Alabama) and ended up in Foley, AL. It was a nice drive. We traveled down the Mississippi coastline for awhile through Gulfport. Their beaches were nice but the water is very brown and dirty looking. We stopped for a short time so that Don could try and get rid of a headache which I am thinking was maybe 20 to thirty minutes. It was bright and sunny when we stopped but then a dark cloud just opened up over us and it started pouring rain. Within five minutes it was over and the sun was back out. Crazy. Guess that is why it is so humid here. Foley is located about 7 miles from Gulf Shores, AL which is where all the Alabama ... read more

Toured the Tabasco Pepper Sauce plant yesterday on Avery Island. It is a very short tour and then you are on your own to walk the grounds and visit the country store. Of course we sampled some and bought a few things. It was very interesting and the grounds are very pretty. Ever since we got here everyone has been telling us that we needed to go to Cafe' des Amis on Saturday morning to hear some good Zydeco music and have breakfast. You know these people must be serious about their music when they not only do music at night but in the morning too. We heard varying reports as to when we should get there from 6:30am to 8am. Now you all know that I am not a morning person so this was really ... read more

Turtles, birds, and alligators oh my! So one of our bucket list things has been to ride on an air boat and now we can check that off the list. The gals in the office here at the RV park hooked us up with a guide, Captain Jude at Mequet Swamp Tours, who actually is a relative, that took us on a tour of the swamp here in Henderson. Where we are staying is surrounded by the Atchafalaya Basin which is the nation's largest swamp wilderness. It is nearly 595,000 acres containing nationally significant expanses of bottomland hardwoods, swamplands, bayous, and back-water lakes not to mention home to 200 species of birds, many of which we saw. We also saw turtles and of course alligators! The air boat had a HUGE Chevy engine on it so ... read more

We finally left Dallas on Tuesday and drove to Shreveport, LA. It was only 200 miles but we thought there might be some things to see and do there. After arriving in the late afternoon and asking around we quickly found out that there really wasn't much there if we didn't want to gamble. We decided to just go eat some dinner and then head out in the morning for Breaux Bridge which is just East of Lafayette. Wednesday we arrived in Henderson, LA and set up camp in a really nice "mom and pop" RV park called Frenchmen's Wilderness Campground. We heard about when we were stopped at a visitor's center just outside of Alexandria and got to talking to a couple in an RV who were asking where we were heading. They had just ... read more

Since we were here in Dallas we decided to do a little sightseeing. We went to Dealey Plaza and the Grassy Knoll. The assassination of President Kennedy has always fascinated, saddened, and intrigued me so I wanted to visit the Book Depository and museum in downtown Dallas. I have watched many television shows about this and heard all the different theories on what happened. It was very interesting to finally be there and see where it actually happened. I must say that it was not what I expected and I was disappointed after the "tour". Can't really put my finger on why or what I was expecting. Guess sometimes things just don't live up to what you are expecting.... read more

Since we were so close to Dallas we decided to come back to the Marathon dealer where we bought our Coach almost a year ago to have it serviced. We pulled in here late afternoon on Wednesday and were greeted by all the guys like we were family. They are such a great, fun group of guys and we really get along with them. They worked on the Coach Thursday but there was a little mishap when they were taking it off of the pit. It is just a little boo-boo but it is requiring some painting so we are still here on Sunday. Things should be all done tomorrow so that we can leave for Louisiana on Tuesday. We are able to stay in the parking lot with water and electrical hook-ups and they have ... read more

We arrived here in San Marcos, TX Saturday after a long and grueling 110 mile drive from Kerrville. (SIC) We had to drive the I10 to the I35 and there were some connectors that we had to catch before getting the I35 and let me tell you what, these Texas drivers were NOT friendly drivers. My husband, who all of you know is a slow burner and very rarely says a cuss word, actually called some woman driver a B- - - - because she would not let us over to get our exit. She actually laid on the horn the whole way around us. She was NEVER in any danger of us hitting her I might add and she didn't even want that exit! She just went right around us and acted like it was ... read more

Yee haw! We are in the Texas hill country and loving it. Got here on Wednesday and will be leaving this area tomorrow. We are staying at Buckhorn RV Resort in Kerrville where we have stayed at least 3 times. We really like this place. It is centrally located to places that we like to visit and the resort is beautiful. We went to Fredericksburg yesterday and walked the town and had lunch. It was a great relaxing day. Today we drove around Kerrville and had lunch at the Mexican place we like. We then took a little drive into Ingram which sits along the Guadalupe River. There were thunderstorms here today which made for an interesting day. The rain blew out all of the humidity so it turned out to be a pleasant day. Tomorrow ... read more
