Geo: 40.6263, 14.3757Well, when I left you last I was just leaving Roma. All went well, found the binario (train track) no problem, the train was about 20 minutes late between arriving and leaving. Didn't really bother me but it bothered the gal sitting kitty-corner from me, she had a lively conversation with the conductor about it in Italian, didn't understand a word yet could understand it all at the same time if you know what I mean...Arrived in Naples and it is a nice very large station, not as scary as some make it out to be... Found my way downstairs where the cicumsuviana train takes you to Sorrento and all points in between. Bought my ticket, I had read that they were 3,40 euros so when he gave me back one euro I asked ... read more

Geo: 41.8955, 12.4823This iPad isn't the best for typing so I will either be making it short or trying to not care about the bad spacing and punctuation... You can be the judge of where I'm at in the process...I was really blessed yesterday, The Lord had me sit by a nice gal on the flight from Denver to Toronto, her husband was sitting elsewhere on the plane. She mentioned we might share a taxi in Rome as we were going to places close to each other. I didn't commit as she hadn't talked with her husband and I wasn't sure if I should as I had made plans to take the express train into town, but it' s full of pickpockets waiting for tired travelers so wasn't excited about that too much either. So imagine, ... read more

Geo: 46.2741, -119.274We'll, I got up at 3:45 AM! We left the house about 4:40 ish, security wasn't too sure about my carry on so put it through the X-ray after opening it, still didn't like it so took most of the stuff out and put it through again, glad everything was in those packing cubes.... Anyway, we all got on the plane and sat for 45 minutes? Already forgetting... We deplaned because snow inDenver grounded all incoming and outgoing flights, got back into the airport and 15 minutes later were reboarding, they had to go through the whole spiel again, interesting. So many people missed their connections it was rather sad and very stressful for them. We landed and I had 15 minutes to literally sprint across the airport down the escalators, caught the train ... read more

Geo: 46.2352, -119.095We'll Jim just dropped me off, I already miss him and the rest of the family! Made it through the id check just fine, but they didn't like my carry on. So they ran it through the x-ray again, still didn't like it so took it all apart... Good thing I have everything in these eagle creek packing cubes... So it wasn't bad to put back together.. (Sounds like a commercial!) so I am waiting now to board the plane to Denver, will check back in later. Just added some photos of miei nipoti (my grandsons) proud Nonna, have shown their photo to my classmates in true Nonna fashion! Who knew?... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Joseph and I got our wake up knock on the door at 5:40, up, showered and out the door by 6:30, my hair put up in a clip to dry on the way! We went to the RER entrance at the St. Michel station, weren't sure which B train to get on, so got on the first one and asked someone right away if we were on the right one to Charles de Gaulle Airport, no a very nice young man told us. Get off at the next stop (Chatelet- Les Halles) and take the next train. He was getting off and showed me how to read the sign to know which one was the right one, the lights come on next to the one showing up next, not rocket science but I guess ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097Well, we are off to Paris again, up at 6:15 showered and ready to go at 7:15, down for our breakfast of bread and tea then off for a walk to the train station. We wanted to make sure we got there in plenty of time to make sure we knew if we had to change trains in Caen, last time I made this trip we did but the tickets said nothing of this so was hoping there would be someone to ask at the station this morning. As it turned out there was no need to change trains, again though we did not have assigned seats so we were a bit scattered. This time each train car had several little individual compartments that sat 6-8 people in each, I don't know how many ... read more

Geo: 49.2764, -0.705529We got up at ~6-6:15, had breakfast quickly and left at 7:55 for our meeting with Overlord Tour at Place du Quebec in downtown Bayeux (between the hospital and the tourist info office) at 8:20. We arrived just in time and we left as soon as we got there. In our van, there was another couple from Syracuse, New York that joined our group of 6. Our tour guide was Oliver and he was excellent, I can heartily recommend him. He was more than just knowledgeable of the surface facts but knew in depth the particulars on all the different aspects of battles, places, people, weapons, transports, etc.. We had chosen the Band of Brothers tour, most of us had watched the TV series before we left to be more familiar with the "terrain ... read more

Geo: 49.2773, -0.703897Well, I thought that Paris would be my favorite part of this trip, but I was wrong! Our days in Bayeux were amazing and allowed us to see another part of France. It might have been the change of pace that made it so nice- we went from one tourist destination in the world to an old town in northern France- still touristy, but much quieter. We stayed at a real convent (!) and got to meet some nuns and taste their delicious homemade food. A choir group was also staying at the convent, and I was able to have a long conversation with two of the ladies in the group, one of whom spoke no English! This was probably one of my favorite things that I did on the trip- interacting with people ... read more

Geo: 46.2741, -119.274Got up at 7:15, went down to breakfast by myself as Joseph was still getting ready. Breakfast is a continental one, bread, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, butter and their delicious homemade apple jelly. I was in the dining room at 8 and the only other visitor staying was there. She was French so I watched what she did so I would know what to do! the big bowls provided were for the hot drinks, WOW, had only read about drinking from bowls in books, no mugs provided here. So fun, now I get to try it. First I had a big bowl of tea, which I love... then I tried the hot chocolate since the sister had nicely provided warm milk for it since we had said we would like that the night before. ... read more
